Description: Moldova possesses the largest area of farmland as a share of its total land surface, an advantage which should encourage economic development strategies oriented towards the agriculture sector. Government subsidies and agriculture loans have been used as tools for developing the Moldavian agriculture. However, considering the challenges generated by both climate change (the drought from year 2012 that affected 80% of farmland) and a difficult political situation (restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation on the Republic of Moldova’s agri-food imports and exports between 2013 and 2014), the country’s agricultural system ranks very low when it comes to agricultural production efficiency. The present paper analyses the performances of the agricultural sector and its impact on the Moldavian economy over a nine-year period (between 2008 and 2016), by using a custom-developed analytical framework based on a dataset containing 21 relevant indicators. The analytical framework generates various perspectives that can be used to elaborate an economic sustainable development strategy of the Moldavian agriculture sector. The development of the analytical framework is based on the dynamics of agriculture subsidies, agricultural loans, the agricultural sector’s gross domestic product (GDP) and gross value added (GVA), as well as the dynamics of agricultural production and production value, also considering the main crops belonging to the Moldavian agriculture sector. The results are presented as sets of mathematical regression models that quantify the relationships found between the relevant agricultural parameters and their impact on the economics of the agricultural sector. It has been identified that the agriculture sector has a considerable impact on the Moldavian economy, a fact revealed by the significant model between the agriculture GVA and total GVA and GDP. A significant, negative correlation model was identified between agriculture subsidies and agriculture loans, although a small percentage of Moldavian agriculture farms were subsidized. Strong correlation models were also identified between wheat and maize production and total agriculture production, emphasizing the importance of these two crops for the Moldavian agricultural economy. Grape and maize production values also generated a correlation model, emphasizing the market interconnection between these crops It can be concluded that the increase in value of governmental agriculture subsidies, as well as expanding their addressability in order to maximize the access possibility for a higher number of agriculture farms, are essential for the Moldavian agriculture sector’s future development, since considering the limiting value of and accessibility to subsidies, a direct correlation model was identified between governmental agriculture subsidies and agriculture GVA.

Notes: Abstract. Based on algorithmic and computational studies, we present the Feast Indices which are new indicators for the realistic performance of many recent processors, as typically used in ‘low cost’ PC's/workstations up to (parallel) supercomputers. Since these tests are very specifically designed for the evaluation of modern numerical simulation techniques, with a special emphasis on `large scale' FEM computations and iterative solvers of Krylov-space/multigrid type, they examine new aspects in comparison to the standard benchmark tests (LINPACK, SPEC FP95, NAS, STREAM) and allow new qualitative and particularly quantitative ratings of the various hardware platforms. We explore the computational efficiency of certain Linear Algebra components, hereby applying the typical sparse approaches and additionally the sparse banded style from Feast which enables us to exploit a significant percentage of the available Peak performance. The tests include ‘simple’ matrix-vector applications as well as complete multigrid solvers with very robust smoothers which are necessary for the efficient treatment of highly adapted meshes.

Notes: Abstract Cs2Na[Bi(SCN)6] crystallizes in the trigonal space group $$P\bar 3$$ with one formal molecule per unit cell.M=846.25,a=7.189(1),c=10.580(2) Å,V=473.5(1) Å,D x =2.967 g cm−3, μ(MoKα)=13.70 mm−1,F(000)=378. FinalR=0.029 for 917 absorption-corrected reflections. The structure consists of infinite[Bi(SCN)6Na] ∞ 2− anionic chains along thec axis with slightly distorted octahedral Bi−6S and Na−6N coordination and Cs+ ions surrounded by three anionic chains with irregular coordination by six N and three S atoms. X-ray powder diffractograms of three complexes, Cs2Na[Bi(SCN)6−x Cl x ] withx=2, 3 and 4, indicate that the mixed complexes are not isostructural and can be indexed in different orthorombic unit cells witha=14.617(8),b=12.32(1),c=10.769(6) Å forx=2;a=15.37(1),b=10.81(1),c=10.287(6) Å forx=3 anda=14.662(7),b=14.366(7),c=7.932(4) Å forx=4. The two dinuclear complexes Cs2Na[Bi2(SCN)9−x Cl x ] withx=2 and 3, despite the large similarity of their diffractograms, are not isostructural and can be indexed in different orthorombic unit cells witha=14.79(1),b=13.72(1),c=10.591(5) Å forx=2 anda=18.423(8),b=15.657(7),c=7.410(7) Å forx=3.

Notes: Abstract FTIR analysis of the gaseous products of the selective catalytic reduction of NO by isobutane over a Fe‐MFI catalyst made by solid‐state ion exchange shows, for the first time, that HCN can be a substantial product. Under dry conditions the amounts formed can exceed that of N2 for temperatures up to 280°C and NO conversions of 25% with a maximum HCN concentration of∼150 ppm formed at 315°C. However, introduction of 0.7% water causes the subsequent conversion of about one‐half the HCN to N2, probably through hydrolysis to NH3 and the NH3‐SCR reaction which is very rapid on Fe‐MFI. The steps through which HCN forms remain to be established.

Notes: Abstract The (d,3He)-reactions on the target nuclei48,50Ti and51V have been studied with 52 MeV deuterons. The data were analyzed by means of the DWBA which is shown to be applicable at this energy. All our results agree well with the assumption of pure (f 7/2)n proton configurations for these nuclei. The inelastic scattering of 52 MeV deuterons from the lowest 2+ state in48Ti has been described in terms of the collective model as well as of the microscopic shell model. Good fits to the measured angular distributions have been obtained with reasonable values for the deformation parameters and the basic nucleon-nucleon interaction.

Notes: Abstract The triton-proton angular correlation function has been measured for the58Ni(α, t p)58Ni reaction leading to the ground state of the target nucleus. The obtained experimental data have been interpreted in terms of the direct break-up (fragmentation) of the alpha particle on the target nucleus potential. It is shown that the main features of the measured double differential cross section are well predicted by the DWBA theory of the break-up. The dependence of the elastic and inclusive break-up cross sections upon the fragment-target interaction potentials is discussed.

Notes: Abstract. X-Ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism experiments have been conducted on a vanadium inorganic salt and a vanadium enamino-ketone complex. Measurements at the K edge of oxygen and nitrogen reveal the amount of magnetic moment transferred in the 2p orbitals of the ligand atoms from the magnetic V ion. Measurements at the L edge of vanadium show that the orbital moment is small and that J = L + S, contrary to the expected J = L-S coupling for a 3d metal with less than five d-electrons. This surprising inobservance of Hund’s third rule emphasizes the need for more detailed studies and calculations on such hybrid molecules.

Notes: Abstract The catalytic decomposition of nitrous oxide was studied on a copper-exchanged ZSM-5 catalyst in the temperature range 648–723 K. Using a mixture of 1000 ppm N2O in nitrogen, isothermal oscillations both in nitrous oxide and oxygen concentrations occurred, accompanied by formation of small amounts of NO. While the addition of excess oxygen did not significantly change frequency and amplitude of the oscillations, even the presence of small amounts of NO immediately quenched the oscillations. The reacting system then remained in the ignited state at high nitrous oxide conversions.

Notes: Abstract Solid-state ion exchange in the presence of air has been used to prepare Fe-MFI catalysts that exhibit activities comparable to preparations obtained under anaerobic conditions. Preliminary results obtained during the simultaneous catalytic reduction of NO and N2O with propane in the temperature range from 473 to 773 K show that Fe-MFI might be of interest for the treatment of exhaust gases containing NOx and nitrous oxide. Undesirable CO formed in a side-reaction can be oxidized to CO2 by promotion of Fe-MFI with small amounts of Pt.
