Notes:
A method is described for measuring the bulk compression modulus of brown rice grains and its variation with time of loading. Rice grains of variety IR-8 at four various moisture levels from 12–29% (db) were subjected to a maximum pressure of 1.38 × 107 N/m2. Values of bulk creep modulus and its inverse, bulk creep compliance, at various levels were determined. The rheological model proposed for the bulk creep behavior of rice grains was a three element truncated Burger's model.
