    Notes: We present here a method of constructing a triangle interpolant which interpolates position and partial derivatives specified at the three vertices of the triangle. The method employs the cubic Bézier triangular patch technique. The data given enable us to determine the appropriate Bézier control points so that adjacent patches meet with C1 continuity. However, the interior control point for the patch is replaced by three separate points, due to the implementation of three local schemes, each of which satisfies the boundary conditions on only one side of the triangle. Convex combination is used to blend these three local schemes.

    Notes: The inelastic behaviour of elasto-plastic materials is nonlinear, path-dependent, and is a function of the total plastic strain. For finite strain problems, the total inelastic strain in Lagrangian co-ordinates cannot be decomposed additively. A generalized logarithmic strain which is formulated in ‘updated’ Lagrangian coordinates and obtained by numerical integration of the Lagrangian strain rate is therefore introduced in this paper. By the use of this strain measure, which is additively decomposable, the plasticity model proposed by the authors can be extended to the finite strain range. It is shown that by correlating the generalized plastic modulus in the constitutive relations with the experimental uniaxial true stress-logarithmic strain diagrams, the inelastic behaviour of steel structures subjected to nonproportional loading can be analyzed numerically by using the finite element method.

    Notes: Collections of Campeloma rufum were made at all seasons of the year from the Salt Fork River at Homer Park, Illinois, for gross anatomical and histological studies. No males nor male reproductive cells were found, all individuals showing definite female structures. The gonad, found on the columellar surface of the digestive gland, shows ovarian cells. A U-shaped tube from the albumen gland to the uterus receives the oviduct near its proximal end. This duct leads into a glandular pocket, the shell gland, which in turn empties into the sac-like uterus. The uterus terminates near the edge of the mantle in a muscular vaginal tube. The previously undescribed kidney, a glandular, pyramidal organ, lies posterior and to the left of the upper end of the mantle cavity. The kidney possesses two orifices opening into the pericardium and ureter respectively. The ureter opens between the vagina and the anus. Intra-uterine young were observed during all seasons of the year varying progressively from small veliger to fully formed young. A later paper on oogenesis, will attempt to substantiate parthenogentic reproduction for C. rufum.

    Notes: Semicrystalline LaRC-TPI is known to be capable of recrystallizing to higher melting crystalline forms upon initial melting. The behavior of these different crystalline forms has not been studied before. The present study uses techniques of differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffractometry to investigate thes crystalline structural changes during recrystallization of this material. Semicrystalline LaRC-TPIs synthesized from three different laboratories are included in this work.

    Notes: Geveral new polyimides were prepared from the reaction of four aromatic dianhydrides with four new diamines containing carbonyl and ether connecting groups between the aromatic rings. The diamines were prepared from the reaction of 4-aminophenol with activated aromatic difluoro compounds in the presence of potassium carbonate. Several of these polyimides were shown to be semicrystalline as evidenced by wide angle x-ray diffraction and differential scanning calorimetry. Glass transition temperatures ranged between 192 and 247°C and crystalline melt temperatures were observed between 350 and 442°C. The polyimide from the reaction of 3,3′,4,4′-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride and 1,3-bis(4-aminophenoxy-4′-benzoyl)benzene provided a semicrystalline solvent resistant transparent film with high tensile properties and compression molded compact tension specimens with high fracture toughness.

    Notes: The copolyether-polyester system resulting from the anionic graft polymerization of pivalolactone onto poly(2,6-dimethylphenylene oxide) has been formulated with differing graft densities and graft segment lengths. Wide angle x-ray scattering studies on these materials indicated an increased crystalline order with increased PVL segments/graft for similarly annealed specimens and a decrease in such order with increasing carboxylation.
