Notes: An apparent transition between active and nonactive second-harmonic generation (SHG) has been discovered in the NaNb3O8 solid solutions with the tetragonal tungsten bronze structure. No SHG was detected in 0.35Na2O:Nb2O5 solid solution crystal or its powder. Nevertheless, powder SHG with a magnitude comparable to KH2PO4 was observed when a small amount of Nb2O5 was added to the powder ground from the crystal and sintered again. Microcracks and ferroelectric domain boundaries have been observed in the crystal using transmission electron microscopy. The only difference between the lattice images of SHG active powder and non-SHG active powder is the absence of microcracks and ferroelectric domain boundaries in the SHG active powder. Dielectric constant of the 0.35Na2O:Nb2O5 crystal is about 300 and δ is 0.003 for frequency from 120 kHz to 12 MHz.

Description: An extremely compact high voltage peaking capacitor is developed. The capacitor has a pancake structure with a diameter of 315 mm, a thickness of 59 mm, and a mass of 6.1 kg. The novel structural design endows the capacitor with a better mechanical stability and reliability under hundreds of kilovolts pulse voltage and an inner gas pressure of more than 1.5 MPa. The theoretical value of the capacitor self-inductance is near to 17 nH. Proved by series of electrical experiments, the capacitor can endure a high-voltage pulse with a rise time of about 20 ns, a half-width duration of around 25 ns, and an amplitude of up to 800 kV in a single shot model. When the capacitor was used in an electromagnetic pulse simulator as a peaking capacitor, the rise time of the voltage pulse can be reduced from 20 ns to less than 3 ns. The practical value of the capacitor's inductance deduced from the experimental date is no more than 25 nH.

Description: We explore the transport properties of mixed ionic-electronic conductors made of carbon nanotube/RbAg 4 I 5 film composite nanostructures in the presence of optical fields. The formation of ion-electron bound states (IEBSs) due to Coulomb interactions results in significant conductance decrease. The wavelength-dependent and power-dependent dynamic responses show that the effect of photo-induced dissociation of IEBSs is pronounced in the visible region and negligible in near-infrared region. Our results lead to a deeper understanding of the impact of ion-electron interactions (IEIs) on transport and are expected to open up a way for designing new-type photodetectors based on IEIs.

Description: In this paper, it presents a new wavefront coding (WFC) technology that we call lens-combined modulated wavefront coding (LM-WFC). Based on the LM-WFC design method, we establish a large depth of field and large aperture system. Simulation results indicate that the modulation transfer function of the system has a defocus invariant characteristic, which all typical WFC systems have, with a large depth of field. Experimental results for comparing the LM-WFC imaging system and a traditional imaging system are presented. The comparative results demonstrate that the LM-WFC system has an imaging performance invariant over a wide depth of field range.
