Description / Table of Contents: Crystalline hydroxy-apatite can be prepared by hydrothermal synthesis at 400° C in the range of pH of 5 to 11. With the exception of CaHPO4 which is formed at a pH of 4.5 in addition to apatite, no other calcium phosphates occurs. Complete substitution of OH- by F- can be achieved in the presence of KF.The crystallisation of apatite is disturbed by CO3---ions, there is, however, no entering of carbonate ions into the lattice of apatite.
