The nitride halides of the alkaline earth metals are prepared by sintering or melting together the anhydrous halides with the corresponding nitrides in nitrogen atmosphere. The existence of the calcium and strontium compounds is proved by thermoanalysis and X-ray spectroscopy. The “red crystals”, appearing in the course of the technical destillation of calcium, consist of Ca2NCl, which contains greater or smaller quantities of dissolved calcium.

Die Nitridhalogenide der Erdalkalimetalle Ca2NCl, Ca2NBr, Ca2NJ, Sr2NCl, Sr2NBr, Sr2NJ, Sr6NJ9 und, wie von Ehrlich und Mitarbeitern gefunden, Ba2NCl, Ba2NBr und Ba6NJ9 lassen sich durch Zusammensintern bzw. -schmelzen der wasserfreien Erdalkalimetallhalogenide mit den entsprechenden Nitriden in Stickstoffatmosphäre darstellen. Die Existenz der Calcium- und Strontiumverbindungen wird thermoanalytisch und röntgenographisch bewiesen. Die bei der technischen Calciumdestillation auftretenden „roten Kristalle“ bestehen aus Ca2NCl, das mehr oder weniger große Mengen Calcium gelöst enthält.
