    Notes: Krist. β-Äthyl-sowie α-Methyl-N-acetyl-D-glucosaminid (I) wurden in ihre krist. 4.6-Benzylidenderivate verwandelt (II) und mittels α-Brom-propionsäure-äthylesters in die diastereoisomere Mischung der Äthylester der 3-O-[α-DL-Carboxyäthyl]-4.6-benzyliden-N-acetyl-D-glucosaminide übergeführt (III + IV). Nach Verseifen des Esters und Entfernung der Benzylidengruppe lassen sich dieselben mit Hilfe von Ionenaustauschern leicht in ihre Diastereoisomeren auftrennen (V + VI). Aus der D-Reihe erhielten wir β-Äthyl-3-O-[α-D-carboxy-äthyl]-4.6-benzyliden-N-acetyl-D-glucosaminid (VIIa) und daraus nach saurer Hydrolyse das 3-O-[α-D-Carboxy-äthyl]-D-glucosamin (VIII)- die Muraminsäure - in krist. Form. Aus der unbeständigeren L-Serie faßten wir α-Methyl-3-O-[α-L-carboxy-äthyl]-N-acety-D-glucosaminid (VIb) sowie das krist. Lacton dieser Säure (XII). Ebenfalls beschreiben wir einige neue krist. Derivate des 3-O-Äthyl-D-glucosamins (IX-XI).

    Notes: Toluene diisocyanate was partially replaced by monobrominated toluene diisocyanate in conventional rigid polyurethane foam formulations, producing self-extinguishing foams for thermal insulation, with only moderate sacrifce of compressive strength, and with no significant effects upon reactivity, odor, density, cell structure, or resistance to aging.
