Summary Two methods are given for bringing radioactive iodine uniformly distributed in standard dimensions to the Geiger counter for determination. 1. Carrier-free radioactive iodine is brought by heterogeneous ion exchange onto filter paper impregnated with silver iodide. 2. A mixture of active and inactive iodine is precipitated in a filter paper impregnated with silver oxalate. A portion of the resulting silver iodide surface is punched out counted. The total activity is calculated from the area relationship. The total quantity of the iodine can be determined at the same time.
