    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Es wird die Kompression eines langen Streifens idealen Bodens oder eines körnigen Mediums zwischen starren, parallelen Platten unter Annahme eines ebenen Verzerrungszustandes betrachtet. Folgende zwei Fälle werden untersucht: a) Kohärenter Boden wird zwischen vollkommen rauhen Platten komprimiert; b) kohäsionsloser Boden wird unter Annahme von Gleitreibung an den Platten komprimiert. Für das Spannungs- und das Geschwindigkeitsfeld werden geschlossene Lösungen angegeben. Ein Ausdruck für die Tragfähigkeit des Bodens bei vernachlässigbarem Eigengewicht wird hergeleitet. Die Lösungen sind für ein spezielles Gründungsproblem anwendbar. Der Einfluß des Eigengewichtes soll in einer späteren Arbeit untersucht werden.
    Notes: Summary The problem considered here is that of the plane strain compression between rigid, parallel plates of a long slab of an ideal soil or granular medium. Two situations are examined (a) a cohesive soil compressed between perfectly rough plates, (b) the compression of a cohesionless soil with sliding friction at the plates. Closed form solutions for the stress and velocity fields are presented and an expression for the load carrying capacity of the soil is derived for the case when the weight of the soil is negligible. The solutions are applicable to a particular foundation problem. The effect of the weight of the material will be considered in future work.
