Conformation and Absolute Configuration of ActinorhodinThe conformation of the dihydropyrane rings of actinorhodin is deduced from the n. m. r. spectrum of its dimethyl derivative 7a or 7b: The C-9 methyl group*) has a quasi-axial orientation, the CH2-CO2H residue an equatorial one. - The (R)-configuration for the known actinorhodin degradation product 14a, containing the asymmetric centres C-9 and C-9′*), respectively, is confirmed by o. r. d. spectrum. - Accordingly the absolute configuration of the natural pigment (+)-actinorhodin*) (15) is (7S, 7′S, 9R, 9′R).

Die Konformation der Dihydropyran-Ringe des Actinorhodins läßt sich aus dem NMR-Spektrum seines Dimethyl-Derivates 7a oder 7b ableiten: Die C-9-Methyl-Gruppe*) steht quasi-axial, der CH2-CO2H-Rest äquatorial. - Für die schon beschriebene Abbausäure 14a, die die Chiralitätszentren C-9 bzw. C-9′*) des Actinorhodins enthält, sichert das ORD-Spektrum (R)-Konfiguration. - Damit fällt die Entscheidung zwischen vier zur Wahl stehenden Stereoformeln zugunsten von (+)-(7S, 7′S, 9 R, 9′ R)-Actinorhodin*) (15).
