    Notes: From the sedimentation-diffusion equilibria of some polymer solutions the average molecular weights M̄n, M̄w, M̄z, and M̄z+1 have been determined in different ways. In particular, the applicability of Fujita's method, which utilizes concentration gradient values at the midpoint of the solution column at a number of rotor speeds, was examined. It appears that if the gradients at some other places in the column are also used, a smaller range of rotor speeds suffices. This method is generally applicable for determining the average molecular weights specified above.

    Notes: Proceeding from the work of Zimm and Stockmayer and of Benoit, a general formula is derived for the calculation of the radius of gyration of block and graft copolymers. It appears that with linear block copolymers the ratio of the mean-square radius of gyration and the mean-square end-to-end distance is usually not far from 1/6. With a great number of blocks the difference from 1/6 can entirely be neglected. Also the influence of the composition of the molecules on the scattered light intensity has been considered.

    Notes: A method has been developed for determining the molecular weight distribution of a polymer sample from the sedimentation-diffusion equilibrium data for a solution under pseudo-ideal conditions. From some theoretical examples it appears that the method works well and that the molecular weight distribution can be determined with a reasonable degree of resolution. From three polymer samples (polyethylene, polystyrene, and polycaprolactam) the molecular weight distribution was determined in this way. The average molecular weights, M̄n, M̄w, M̄z, and Mz+1, calculated from these distribution functions agree well with those calculated directly from the equilibrium data.

    Notes: Experimentell wird nachgewiesen, daß eine Staubmenge über die Änderung der Eigenfrequenz eines transversal schwingenden Bandes im Vakuum gut gemessen werden kann. Statt Entdämpfung durch Vakuum erscheint es praktischer, der Dämpfung durch elektrische Hilfsmittel entgegenzuwirken. Auf dieser Grundlage ist es wahrscheinlich möglich, ein empfindliches kontinuierliches Konzentrationsmeßverfahren für Schwebstoffe zu entwickeln, etwa mittels eines Bandes mit konstantem Vorschub und konstanter Vorspannung, dessen Eigenfrequenz laufend vor und nach einer Staubabscheidestelle gemessen und verglichen wird. Der Meßwert kann hierbei leicht registrert werden.

    Notes: Für eine halbtechnische Füllkörper-Absorptionskolonne wurde das dynamische Verhalten durch Aufnahme von Übergangsfunktionen für Änderungen in der Gas-Eintrittskonzentration, im Flüssigkeits- und im Gasdurchsatz experimentell bestimmt und mit den Rechenergebnissen eines allgemeinen mathematischen Modells verglichen. Die Messungen wurden mit dem System Kohlendioxid/wäßrige Triäthanolamin-Lösung ausgeführt. Der Vergleich zwischen Rechnung und Experiment ergab eine befriedigende Übereinstimmung. Auf Grund der experimentellen Ergebnisse konnten einige qualitative Aussagen über das dynamische Verhalten und die Gesamteinstellzeit der Kolonne gemacht werden, die allgemein auf Füllkörpersäulen anwendbar sind.

    Notes: Die Extraktion von Salzen aus Kieselsäure-Gel wird im wesentlichen zurückgeführt auf eine Diffusion im Gel. Für die Fälle des Rohrreaktors und einer Kaskadenanordnung wird damit die mathematische Behandlung durch die Fickschen Diffusionsgleichungen möglich. Zur numerischen Auswertung wird ein Analogrechner benutzt. Die ermittelten Zusammenhänge zwischen Extraktionszeit und Extraktionsbedingungen sind allgemein gültig und erlauben die Optimierung einer Extraktionsanlage hinsichtlich Stufenzahl und -größe sowie spezifischem Waschwasser-Verbrauch.
