Attempts to prepare garnets of the type “{Ca3}[LiMII](As3)O12” (I) with MII = Mg, Co, Ni have led to the surprising result that the Li+ is distributed on the six- and eight-coordinated interstices in the garnet structure type. In the obtained polyphasic reaction products a garnet phase was found which resembles the boundary member {Li1-xCa2+x}LixM2-xII, (As3)O12 with x ≃ 0.4 of a mixedcrystal series between the above mentioned hypothetical type I (x = 1) and garnets of the type {LiCa2}[M2II](As3)O12(x = 0). Remission spectra (NIR/VIS/UV) of the latter compounds have proved the formulated ion distribution for the case of MII = Ni, and, to a certain extent, an Li+ ↔ Co2+ site exchange for MII = Co.

Versuche zur Darstellung von Granaten des Typs „{Ca3}[LiMII] (As3)O“12 (I) (MII = Mg, Co, Ni) führen zu dem überraschenden Ergebnis, daß sich Lithium über die sechs und achtfach koordinierten Gitterlücken verteilt. Die in den mehrphasigen Reaktionsprodukten enthaltene Granatstrukturphase ist als Grenzglied einer Mischkristallreihe{Li1-xCa2+x}[LixM2-xII]{As3)O12 (x ≃ 0,4) zwischen der hypothetischen Verbindung (I) (x = 1) und Granaten des Typs (LiCa2}[Mi2II](As3)O12 (x = 0) aufzufassen. Remissionsspektren der letzteren Verbindungen bestätigen fur MII = Ni die formulierte Ionenverteilung und sprechen für MII = Co für einen gewissen Austausch Li+ ↔ Co2+.
