Notes: Acidity constants of 3-, 4- and 5-chloro-o-toluidinium ions have been measured at 25° in aqueous dioxane media containing 20, 45, 70 and 72 wt.% of 1.4-dioxane by pH metry. The necessary correction factors to convert pH meter readings into stoichiometric pH have been evaluated. The relation between the strength of anilinium ions and various solvent properties has been discussed. A HAMMETT type relation has been developed for correlating the acid strength of these disubstituted anilinium ions with HAMMETT's structural parameters.

Notes: The rate constants and the kinetic parameters of the reaction of phenacyl bromide with mono and disubstituted anilines in ethanol have been determined. The substituent effects on the free energy of activation have been found to be additive. HAMMETT equation for multiple substitution was applied to correlate reactivity with structural parameters. The substituent effect is separated into inductive and resonance effects.

Notes: Acidity constants of 3, 4, 5 and 6-chloro-o-toluidinium ions are measured at 25°C in aqueous-ethanol solvents containing 0, 20, 35, 50, 65 and 80 wt% of ethanol by pH metry. The correction factor giving stoichiometric significance to pH meter readings have been evaluated for three different acid concentrations in each of the above mentioned solvent systems. Attempt has been made to correlate the strength of each of the anilinium ions with various solvent properties. HAMMETT-type relations have been derived for correlating acid strengths with structural properties.
