    Description / Table of Contents: The so-called solid perrhenic acid has been characterized to be dirhenium-dihydratoheptoxide Re2O7(OH2)2 from a complete single crystal structure analysis. The compound is the first example of a metal aquoxide with a molecular structure in the solid state, and the first in which coordinated water could be proved to be present. In the dinuclear molecule one rhenium is coordinated tetrahedrally, the other one octahedrally by oxygen atoms. The ReO4 tetrahedron is joined with the ReO4(OH2)2 octahedron by one common corner. Crystal data see “Inhaltsübersicht”. In connection with the recently determined structure of Re2O7, the chemical and physical properties of Re2O7(OH2)2 are discussed in detail.
    Notes: Die sogenannte feste Perrheniumsäure wurde durch eine dreidimensionale Röntgenstrukturanalyse als Dirheniumdihydratoheptoxid Re2O7(OH2)2 charakterisiert. Die bisher angenommene Formel HReO4 konnte damit nicht bestätigt werden. Die Verbindung ist das erste charakterisierte Aquoxid mit koordinative gebundenem Wasser und das erste Metallaquoxid mit einer Molekülstruktur im festen Zustand. In dem zweikernigen Molekül ist ein Rheniumatom tetraedrisch, das andere oktaedrisch von Sauerstoffatomen umgeben, wobei die tetraedrische Gruppe mit der oktaedrischen durch eine gemeinsame Ecke verknüpft ist.Kristalldaten: a = 8,82, b = 8,89, c = 5,03 Å, β = 112,0° Raumgruppe P21/m, Z = 2 Re2O7(OH2)2.Einige chemische und physikalische Eigenschaften werden an Hand der Struktur diskutiert.

    Description / Table of Contents: Bindungsenergien der inneren Elektronen des Thiazylfluorids und anderer SchwefelverbindungenDie Bindungsenergien der inneren Elektronen wurden für die Atome in NSF3, SF5Cl und S2Cl2 gemessen. Diese Daten und entsprechende aus Literaturangaben für andere Schwefelverbindungen wurden mit Hilfe des Punktladungs-Modells unter Verwendung von CHELEQ-Atomladungen berechnet. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, daß die Bindung in einer großen Anzahl von Schwefelverbindungen unter alleiniger Verwendung von s und p Vaienceorbitalen erklärt werden kann. Die niedrigen 1s Bindungsenergien des Fluors, die beim NSF3 und OSF2 beobachtet werden, werden auf nicht bindende Resonanz-Strukturen zurückgeführt.
    Notes: Core electron binding energies were measured for the atoms in NSF3, SF5Cl, and S2Cl2. These data and similar data from the literature for other sulfur compounds were correlated by the point charge potential method using CHELEQ atomic charges. The results indicate that the bonding in a wide variety of sulfur compounds can be explained using only s and p valence orbitals. The low fluorine 1s bonding energies observed for NSF3 and OSF2 are attributed to “no-bond” resonance structures.

    Description / Table of Contents: Reaction of Nitrogen Trifluoride. VII Reactions of Nitrogen Trifluoride with Phosphor Sulphur Compounds and Calcium PhosphideReactions of NF3 with P4S3, P4S10, are studied by variation of reaction temperature and rate of flow of NF3. Operation in a nickel tube at 328-360°C leads to the main products SPF3 and PF3; in a nickel trap at 180-215°C (NPF2)n (n = 3-9) is formed in good yield (60%) together with PF3 and PF5. At higher temperatures also SPF3, SF4 and SF6 are produced in considerable amounts. Results with calcium and nickel phosphide are presented.
    Notes: Die Reaktionen von NF3 mit P4S3, P4S10 werden unter Variation Reaktionstemperatur und der Strömungsgeschwindigkeit des NF3 studiert. Die Umsetzungen im Nickelrohr ergeben bei 328-360°C als Hauptprodukte SPF3 und PF3, der Nickelfalle entstehen bei 180-215°C in guter Ausbeute (NPF2), (n = 3-9) (60%) sowie PF3 und PF5. Bei höheren Temperaturen treten daneben noch SPF3, SF4 und SF6 in größeren Mengen auf. Ergebnisse mit Calcium- und Nickelphosphid sind rnit aufgeführt.
