    Notes: Abstract Oxidation of acetone-4-p-bromophenylsemicarbazone with lead tetraacetate yields only one isomer of 5,5-dimethyl-2-p-bromophenylimino-Δ3-1,3,4-oxadiazoline, C10H10BrN3O. Crystals of this compound are triclinic, space groupP¯1,a = 5·91(1),b = 9·52(1),c = 11·59(2) Å, α =114·1(1) °, β = 93·5(1) ° and γ = 108·8(1) °;z = 2 and the chemical composition is C10H10BrN3O. Of 2306 independent reflexions examined, 877 were strong enough to be measured with integrated precession photographs using MoKα radiation. The structure was refined using a full-matrix least-squares program to a finalR value of 0·064. The structure consists of planar phenyl and oxadiazoline rings, with a van der Waals interaction between a phenyl hydrogen atom and oxygen atom of the five member ring preventing the two rings from being co-planar; the H(13)-O(1) separation is 2·47 Å. TheZ-configuration of the product suggests a specific mechanism for the ring closure involving an organolead intermediate.

Kondensation mit reaktiven Halogennitrobenzolen gab 1-Nitro-phenothiazine, deren Oxidation zu Phenothiazinsulfonen detailliert untersucht wurde.
    Notes: Abstract Attempts have been made to synthesise 2-amino-5-fluorobenzenethiol through hydrolytic cleavage of 2-amino-6-fluorobenzothiazole. It has been converted into substituted 1-nitro phenothiazines by condensation with reactive halogenonitrobenzenes and the oxidation behaviour of phenothiazines to phenothiazine sulphones has been studied in detail.

    Notes: Summary Calmagite [1-(1-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-phenyl azo)-2-naphthol sulphonic acid], dissociates in two steps. It forms violet complexes with Al3+, Ga3+ and In3+. The stepwise proton-ligand stability constants of calmagite and stepwise metal-ligand stability constants of these complexes were evaluated by potentiometric titration technique ofBjerrum andIrving andRossotti. The order of the stabilities of complexes is In3+ 〉 Ga3+ 〉 〉 Al3+.

    Notes: Summary High explosives having the sameR f values on a thin-layer chromatogram and difficult to separate are readily resolved as their coloured π-complexes with aromatic amines. After liberation from their complexes on the plate, up to 1.5 μg of the explosives can be conveniently estimated at their characteristic absorption maxima.

    Notes: Summary Model resistivity experiments over sloping and vertical, non-conducting dykes have been carried out and reported in this paper. The results of vertical dykes as compared to the sloping dykes are very interesting and not so far reported in the available literature. Of particular interest is distinct resistivity high in the centre of the two vertical dykes, followed by lows over the dykes and again by highs on either side. As expected the curves are symmetrical. As against this, in the cases of sloping dykes, there is a distinct low, in between the dykes, followed by highs over the dykes, the curves being asymmetrical.
