Abstract In the measurement of turbulent pulsations there arises an error due to averaging over the receiving surface of the pickup. The term “resolving power” is widely used to characterize this error. If the error is small, it is assumed that the pickup has a high resolving power. Starting from the theory of isotropic turbulence and the hypothesis of A. N. Kolmogorov, an evaluation is obtained of the error in measurement of trubulent pulsations of the velocity using a thermoanemometer. The theoretical conclusions are confirmed by experimental results.
