Summary A large-scale preparative gas chromatograph containing a 3 m long 100 mm l. D. column was built to investigate the application of preparative gas chromatography for the separation and production of various organic compounds. In this paper some experiences are reported concerning the operation of this large-scale preparative unit. In particular the efficiency of the receivers, the method of sample introduction as well as the stability of column packing were investigated.
