Abstract Eleven single lots of 100-mg phenytoin sodium capsules were evaluated for their relative bioavailability in 12 normal human volunteers. These products were manufactured by eight different companies and met all compendial specifications. The products were evaluated with respect to plasma levels at various times up to 96 hr following administration of single 100-mg doses, times of peak level, peak plasma concentrations, and areas under the plasma level—time curve. Several of the products exhibited statistically significant differences in the various parameters studied.
