Abstract The time-dependent phonon irradiation of a detector area is evaluated within anisotropic continuum accoustics for main crystal cuts of diamond, silicon, germanium,α-quartz and sapphire assuming i) a thermal constantan radiator emitting 50ns pulses, ii) a crystal thickness of 6 mm and iii) radiators and detectors having equal area of 0.3 × 0.3 mm2, 1 × 1 mm2 or 2 × 2 mm2, respectively, and being centred at opposite faces of the crystal plate.
