Notes: Summary (1) The vaginal smears show no definite criteria of susceptibility to radiation except for the disappearance of the atypical cells. (2) Nothing can be said about the diagnosis. Only the clinical status may enable the experienced gynaecologist to predict the prognosis. (3) The cytology of the vagina serves as an important guide to the progress of cases of carcinoma which had been radiated or operated. The diagnosis of recurrence of the local, highly differentiated carcinoma, following radiation may present difficulties.

Description / Table of Contents: Summary In bromatological analysis, classical thin layer chromatography has been applied up to now essentially for the separation of organic compounds. It cannot be doubted though, that the use of thin layers of ion exchangers may broaden the field of application of this method, particularly in food evaluation. The isolation and characterization of numerous toxic or fraudulent mineral ions such as Pb, Hg, Cu, As, SCN, Fe(CN)6 ... can be achieved by this method, eventually coupled with the classical methods of mineralisation or solvent extraction, or with more modern methods such as radio activation. Chromatography on multiple layers of differing nature, set side by side, must give the possibility of achieving in one operation more complete analysis of complex mixtures of mineral and organic compounds by bringing into play, successively, the phenomena of partition, adsorption, and ion exchange.

Notes: Polyfunctionalized N-Tensides. I. Nucleophilic Substitutions with Bischloronitrosocompounds. 1. Reactions with Amines, Mercaptans and Sodium AzideChloronitrosation of alkenes gives bischloronitrosocompounds 1, which react with amines to α-aminooximes (2 and 4), with mercaptans to α-alkylthiooximes 11, and with sodium azide to α-azidooximes 8. Reduction with LiAlH4 gives vicinal substituted diamines (6, 7, 10) from α-amino-or α-azidooximes (2, 4, 8) and β-alkylthioamines 13 from α-alkylthiooximes 11.The determination of E- or Z-configuration in the α-substituted oximes is discussed.

Notes: The Raman spectra of oriented single crystals of Copper (II) sulphate and selenate at 290 K and 150 K are reported and compared. Assignments are proposed for numerous internal modes of the crystals. Raman scattering tensors are calculated for the normal modes of (SO4)2- and (SeO4)2- and compared with experimental results. The structure and the part played by ligands (SO4)2- and (SeO4)2- in these crystals are stated precisely. The molecular complexes Cu(H2O)4 and Cu(D2O)4 are characterized by the assignment of their vibrational frequencies.
