    Notes: Abstract UMPK 3 is a rare variant of the polymorphic enzyme of human red cells, uridine monophosphate kinase. This homozygote phenotype was detected among the Warao Indians of Venezuela. The UMPK 1 and UMPK 3 enzymes were partially purified following the method described by Tend et al. (1976). The biochemical and kinetic parameters of both variants were studied in crude hemolysates and in partially purified enzymes. A comparison was made with the results previously reported by Teng for UMPK 1 and UMPK 2, and it was concluded that UMPK 3 seems to resemble the other two allelic gene products in Km values for UMP, CMP, and ATP but differs from them in electrophoretic mobility, pH optimum, and thermal stability.

    Description / Table of Contents: Unter der Voraussetzung, daß der Abbruch bei der anionischen Polymerisation von Methylmethacrylat in Tetrahydrofuran mit Cumylcäsium als Initiator ausschließlich durch das Monomere verursacht wird, wird die Abbruchsgeschwindigkeitskonstante kt± für die Ionenpaare des Polymethylmethacrylcäsiums aus der Molekulargewichtsverteilung von Polymeren, die bei verschiedenen Temperaturen unter sonst gleichen Bedingungen hergestellt wurden, abgeschätzt. Die Abbruchreaktion hat eine Aktivierungsenergie von etwa 11 kcal/mol (46 kJ/mol). - Die relativ große Breite der Verteilung der nicht desaktivierten Ketten („interne Uneinheitlichkeit“) zeigt deutlich die Existenz von verschieden reaktiven Ionenpaararten.
    Notes: Based on the assumption that the termination reaction in the anionic polymerization of methyl methacrylate in THF with cumyl cesium as initiator is exclusively caused by the monomer, the termination rate constant kt(±) for the ion-pairs of polymethylmethacrylcesium is estimated by analyzing the molecular weight distribution (MWD) of polymer samples prepared at different temperatures under otherwise identical reaction conditions. The activation energy of the termination reaction of the ion-pairs is found to be about 11 kcal/mol (46 kJ/mol). - The relatively broad MWD of the non-deactivated chains (the so called internal nonuniformity) reveals the existence of ion-pairs with different reactivity.

    Description / Table of Contents: The electronic absorption spectra of the ions PS43-, AsS43- and SbS43- have been measured in aqueous solution. The transitions are assigned and discussed, using a simple MO diagram.
    Notes: Es wurden die Elektronenspektren von PS43-, AsS43- und SbS43- in wäßriger Lösung gemessen. Alle Ionen weisen unterhalb von 54 kK lediglich eine starke Bande auf. Die Banden werden an Hand eines stark vereinfachten MO-Schemas zugeordnet. Es läßt sich zeigen, daß bei den oben erwähnten Ionen praktisch keine π-Bindungen vorliegen.

    Description / Table of Contents: Die Reaktion der Oxoanionen MO4n- (M = V, Re) mit Schwefelwasserstoff wurde spektralphotometrisch verfolgt und die Bildung von zwei neuen Thioanionen (VO2S23- und ReOS3-) beobachtet. Ihre Elektronenspektren werden mit denen der Thiomolybdate und -wolframate in Hinsicht auf Gesetzmäßigkeiten verglichen. Das Elektronenspektrum des VO2S23--Ions wird vorgeschlagen.
    Notes: The reaction of MO4n- (M = V, Re) with H2S investigated by spectrophotometry, indicated the existence of two new thioanions VO2S23- and ReOS3-. Their spectra are compared with known relationships in those of the thioanions of molybdenum and tungsten. A proposal for the electronic spectrum of VO3S3- is given.

    Description / Table of Contents: The preparation, infrared spectra, electronic spectra and x-ray data of the salts (C6H5)4M[CrO3X] (M = P, As; X = Cl, F) are reported and discussed. The powder diagrams could be indexed tetragonal (for data see Inhaltsübersicht). Tetraphenylarsoniumchlorochromate may be used for a gravimetric determination of chromium because of its low solubility in water. A procedure is proposed.
    Notes: Darstellung, IR-Spektren, Elektronenspektren und röntgen-kristallographischen Daten der Salze (C6H5)4M[CrO3X] (M = P, As; X = Cl, F) werden mitgeteilt und diskutiert. Die Pulveraufnahmen ließen sich mit den folgenden Gitterkonstanten tetragonal indizieren: Tetraphenylarsoniumchlorochromat eignet sich infolge seiner geringen Löslichkeit in Wasser zur gravimetrischen Chrombestimmung. Eine Arbeitsvorschrift wird angegeben.

Bildungsenthalpie von (NH4)2MoS4Die Reaktionen (NH4)2MeS4 = 2 NH3 + H2S + MeS3 (Me = Mo, W) wurden durch Messung der Zersetzungsdampfdrucke untersucht. Die thermochemischen Daten ergaben sich zu: δH = 52 kcal/Mol und ΔS = 105 cal/Grad. Mol für die Zersetzung von (NH4)2MoS4 sowie ΔH = 59 kcal/Mol und ΔS = 106 cal/Grad. Mol für die Zersetzung von (NH4)2WS4- Die Normalbildungsenthalpie von (NH4)2MoS4 wurde zu ΔHf,2980 = -140 kcal/Mol bestimmt. Die Kinetik der oben angegebenen Reaktionen wurde ebenfalls gemessen.
    Notes: The reactions (NH4)2MeS4 = 2 NH3 + H2S + MeS3 (Me = Mo, W) were investigated by measuring the decomposition vapour pressures. Thermochemical data were obtained from these measurements: ΔH = 52 kcal/mole and ΔS = 105 cal/deg.mole for the decomposition of the tetrathiomolybdate. Similarly, ΔH = 69 kcal/mole and ΔS = 106 cal/deg.mole were obtained for the decomposition of the tetrathiotungstate. The normal heat of formation of (NH4)2MoS4 was found to be ΔHf,2980 = -140 kcal/mole. The kinetics of thermal decomposition of the above reactions were also measured.

All compounds crystallize orthorhombic in spacegroup D2h16—Pnma and are isomorphous with β-K2SO4. Systematic relations between lattice constants and occupation of atomic positions in the unit cell are discussed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Preparation, Properties, Structure, and Electronic Structure of Vanadium PentasulfideNoncrystalline V2S5 with interesting surface properties obtained by thermal decomposition of (NH4)3VS4 was investigated by vibrational spectra, small angle and wide angle X-ray scattering, photoelectron spectroscopy, and thermogravimetry. Each vanadium is surrounded by six sulfur atoms at an average distance of 234 pm and has six vanadium atoms as next neighbours at 342 pm. The short range order corresponds to a strongly disordered C6(CdI2) structure (particle size not larger than 2500 pm). The results are reported and discussed.
    Notes: Das durch thermische Zersetzung aus (NH4)3VS4 erhaltene nichtkristalline V2S5, das interessante Oberflächeneigenschaften besitzt, wurde schwingungsspektroskopisch, mit Röntgenkleinwinkel- und -weitwinkelstreuung, photoelektronenspektroskopisch sowie thermogravimetrisch untersucht. Jedes Vanadium ist oktaedrisch von sechs Schwefelatomen im mittleren Abstand von 234 pm umgeben und hat bei 342 pm sechs weitere V-Atome als nächste Nachbarn. Die Nahordnung entspricht einem stark fehlgeordneten C6(CdI2)-Typ (Teilchengrößen geringer als 2500 pm). Die Ergebnisse werden mitgeteilt und diskutiert.

The different methods allow a discussion of the strong polarising effect of the Tl(I) cation on the anions. For the purpose of comparison the photoelectron spectra of the salts Tl3MX4 (M = V, Nb, Ta; X = S, Se); Tl2MO4 (M = Mo, W); Cs2MX4, (M = Mo, W; X = S, Se) and other similar salts were also measured.
    Notes: Die Elektronenüberführungs-, IR-, RAMAN- und Photoelektronenspektren sowie die Pulverdiagramme von Tl2MoO2S2, Tl2WO2S2, Tl2MoOS3, TL2WOS3, Tl2MoS4 und Tl2WS4 werden angegeben und diskutiert. Die verschiedenen Meßmethoden erlauben eine Diskussion des stark polarisierenden Einflusses des Tl(I)-Kations auf die Anionen. Zum Vergleich wurden weiterhin die Photoelektronenspektren der Salze Tl3MX4(M = V, Nb, Ta; X = S, Se); T12MO4 (M = M, W); Cs2MX4 (M = Mo, W; X = S, Se) sowie weiterer ähnlicher Salze vermessen.
