Transition Metal Carbene Complexes, CXXXII. Synthesis of Novel Gold(1)- and Gold(III) Carbene ComplexesPentacarbonyl[(dimethylamino)phenylcarbene]-complexes of chromium(0) (1a), molybdenum(0) (1b), and tungsten(0) (1c) react with chloroauric acid to give chloro[(dimethylamino)phenylcarbene]-gold(I) (2) and trichloro[(dimethylamino)phenylcarbene]gold(III) (3), while the reaction of 1c with bromoauric acid yields only bromo[(dimethylamino)phenylcarbene]gold(I) (4). Tribromo-[(dimethylamino)phenylcarbene]gold(III) (5) is obtained either from 4 by oxidative addition of bromine or from 3 halogene substitution with boron tribromide. [(Dimethylamino)phenyl-carbene]triiodogold(III) (6) is prepared by further halogene substitution from 5 with boron triiodide; it is reduced with sodium thiosulfate to give [(dimethylamino)phenylcarbene]iodogold(I) (7).
Notes:
