    Notes: . Twenty of 35 roe deer (Capreolus capreolus), eight of 12 red deer (Cervus elaphus), and nine of 21 fallow deer (Cervus da ma) but none of four moose (Alces alces) examined from April to November 1983 were infected with trypanosomes. Morphometric data of the bloodstream trypomastigotes from the three deer species differed significantly. This appears to be the first report of stercorarian trypanosomes from Cervidae in the Old World and the first description of representatives of the subgenus Megatrypanum in the three deer species.

    Effects of repeated blood sampling on some blood parameters in freshwater fish (1984)

    Notes: The effects of repeated weekly blood sampling on blood parameters were studied over a period of 22 days in a salmonid, Salmo gairdneri, and cyprinid fish, Leuciscus idus. The procedure induced mild anaemia demonstrated by decrease of red blood cell counts, haemoglobin and PCV. The changes were more marked in L. idus, which showed signs of increased red cell destruction. No significant trends could be observed in the white blood picture. The results show that blood tests are possible in individual fish, especially S. gairdneri over a long period.

    Notes: The seasonal development of the testes in European pike was examined using wild fish and biopsies from pike housed in tanks. The size of the tubules and the different cell types were measured and their histological appearance described. Four stages of development can be distinguished during the annual cycle. They are: (I) the stage of rest from June to August; (II) the stage of development from September to November with intensive spermatogenesis; (III) the stage of maturity from December to March/April with spermatogenesis completed; and (IV) the post-spawning stage from March to May.

    Notes: The impetus for this work was the structure of a trinuclear complex with two carbonyl groups showing incipient triple bridging - Cp2Rh3(CO)4-. Its structure, barrier to rotation of one Rh(CO)2- piece vs. the rest of the molecule, and the nature of the bridging carbonyl interaction are analyzed. Isolobal analogies form an interesting connection between this complex and a bridged isomer of the recently synthesized carbene complexes, Cp2Rh2(CO)2CR2, one isomer of Cp2Rh3(CO)3, and hypothetical carbyne complexes Cp2Rh2(CO)2CH+,-. A general bonding model for Cp2Rh2(μ-CO)2X complexes is constructed. The model, rich in geometrical detail, allows minima for the bridging carbonyl groups bending toward and away from the bonded ligand X.

    Notes: This work considers the theoretical aspects of the shift of an alkyl(or aryl) group from a coordinated phosphine to the 16-electron d8 transition metal to which it is coordinated. This rearrangement at first seems to resemble an anionic [1,2]-sigmatropic shift. But a detailed analysis of the relatively low barrier calculated for the reaction shows how all traces of the forbiddeness of the reaction have vanished. Phenyl migration should eb still more facile. We also analyze in some detail the possible pathways of alkyl halide addition to a phenyl-Pt complex. An alkyl migration, now from metal to coordinated C-atom, could possibly intervene in this process.

    Notes: The title dicarboxylic acid 1d has been prepared in 24% overall yield via, 1,4-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]octane (DABCO)-catalyzed coupling of ethanal and tert-butyl propenoate (3) to 4, SN2′-reaction to tert-butyl (Z)-2-romomethyl-2-butenoate (5a), dehydrobrominatin to tert-butyl 2-methylidene-3-butenoate (2c), dimerizatoin to di-tert-butyl 4-vinyl-1-cyclohexene-1,4-dicarboxylate (1c) and acidic ester cleavage. Acidic cleavage of easily obtainable 5a affords (Z)-2-bromomethyl-2-butenoic acid (5a) in 68% yield with respect to ethanal.

    Description / Table of Contents: Thiono and Dithio Esters, XXII. α,β-Unsaturated Thiono and Dithio Estersα,β-Unsaturated thiono and dithio esters such as O-ethyl thiocinnamate (3), methyl dithiocinnamate (7), O-ethyl thiocrotonate (17), and O,O-diethyl dithiofumarate (28) have been prepared by thiolysis between 20 and -75°C from the corresponding O- or S-alkylated tertiary amides or thioamides. They tend to dimerize in part by [4 + 2] cycloadditions. Methyl dithiocrotonate (24) could only be isolated as the endo-dimer 25.
    Notes: α,β-Ungesättigte Thion- und Dithioester wie Thiozimtsäure-O-ethylester (3), Dithiozimtsäure-methylester (7), Thiocrotonsäure-O-ethylester (17) und Dithiofumarsäure-O,O-diethylester (28) sind durch Thiolyse aus den entsprechenden O- oder S-alkylierten tertiären Amiden oder Thio-amiden bei Temperaturen von 20 bis -75°C zugänglich. Sie dimerisieren zum Teil in [4 + 2]-Cycloadditionen. Dithiocrotonsäure-methylester (24) ist nur als endo-Dimeres 25 erhältlich.

    Description / Table of Contents: Substitution Reactions on Gallium Halides with Silyl SulfidesThe reactions between the gallium halides (1, 2, and 3) and the silyl sulfides (CH3)3SiSCH3, (CH3)3SiSC2H5, and (CH3)3SiSC6H5 (4, 5, and 6) in benzene result in the formation of the extremely moisture-sensitive mono-, bis-, and tris(alkyl- and phenylthio)gallanes (7-22). Spectra as well as some physical and chemical properties of the new compounds are given. The possible mechanism of formation and an interesting structural phenomenon of the diiodo(alkylthio)gallanes 12, 13 are discussed.
    Notes: Die Galliumhalogenide GaCl3, GaBr3 und GaI3 (1, 2 und 3) reagieren mit den Silylsulfiden (CH3)3SiSCH3, (CH3)3SiSC2H5 (4, 5 und 6) in Benzol unter Bildung der extrem feuchtigkeitsempfindlichen Mono-, Bis- und Tris(alkyl- bzw. phenylthio)gallane 7-22. Spektroskopische Daten sowie einige physikalische und chemische Eigenschaften der neuen Verbindungen werden mitgeteilt. Der mögliche Bildungsmechanismus und ein interessantes strukturelles Phänomen der Diiod(alkylthio)gallane 12, 13 werden diskutiert.
