Abstract Macrobicyclic boron-containing iron 4-methylnioximates were synthesized. The compounds obtained were characterized by data from elemental analysis, and electronic and IR spectroscopy. The structure of the immediate coordinational environment and the influence on it of the substituent at the boron atom was studied by the nuclear gamma resonance (NGR) (Mossbauer) method. From the13C and11B NMR spectroscopy data, the structure of the peripheral part of molecules of the complexes was determined. The kinetics of the synthesis and decomposition of iron 4-methylnioximate was studied and a mechanism was proposed for the template synthesis of the complex. The influence of the substituent on the structure and properties of macrobicyclic iron dioximates was established.
