Description: Model-measurement display methods for studying actual or synthetic satellite measurements of cloudiness are developed. Visualization and animation techniques are employed to analyze the data. Two types of animation sequences, one based on Insat IR geosynchronous satellite imagery combined with upper level velocity potentials calculations and isoline depictions of the high amplitude centers of low frequency cloudiness activity, and the other combines a mesoscale cloud model simulation of a severe hail storm and synthetic microwave radiation signatures, are described.
