Summary 1. The IR spectra and the Raman spectra of eight vinylacetylene silanols, siloxanes, and alkoxysilanes were investigated. 2. The oxygen atom exerts a considerable influence on the position of the absorption band of the acetylene bond, which is due to the unique interaction of the silicon and oxygen atoms. On the other hand, the vinylacetylene group does not exert any appreciable influence on the vibrational frequencies of the Si-OH, COH, Si-O-Si, and C-O-Si bonds. 3. The values of the frequencies for the vinyl group remain constant, just as in the spectra of vinylethynylsilanes.
