Notes: Abstract The pharmacokinetics of a single 40mg/kg dose of acetaminophen was investigated at 09h00 and 21h00 in Sprague-Dawley rats synchronized to a 12-h light-dark cycle. Acetaminophen was administered by the intraarterial, intravenous, intraperitoneal, and oral routes in order to determine the contribution of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and lung to the oral extraction ratio of the drug. A mean oral extraction ratio of 0.46 was obtained at 21h00 as compared to 0.39 at 09h00. The mean extraction ratios of the gastrointestine, liver, and lung were 0.05, 0.41, and 0 at 09h00 and 0.18, 0.24, and 0.13 at 21h00, respectively. These results indicate that the extrahepatic metabolism of acetaminophen is important at 21h00, but is barely detectable at 09h00, whereas the hepatic extraction ratio is higher at 09h00 than at 21h00. Thus, there are temporal variations in the disposition of acetaminophen in the rat.

Description: The rototranslational absorption spectrum of N2-H2 gaseous mixtures has been measured at five different temperatures from 298 to 90 K in the frequency range 80-850/cm. The absorption spectra due to N2-H2 interactions have been analyzed considering only the quadrupolar induction mechanism. With this assumption, the experimental data are fairly well accounted for, thereby providing a procedure for predicting the N2-H2 spectrum over a wide temperature range.

Description: The rototranslational absorption spectrum of gaseous N2 is analyzed, considering quadrupolar and hexadecapolar induction mechanisms. The available experimental data are accounted for by using a line-shape analysis in which empirical profiles describe the single-line translational profiles. Thus, a simple procedure is derived that allows the prediction of the N2 spectrum at any temperature. On the basis of the results obtained for the pure gas, a procedure to compute the far-infrared spectrum of the N2-Ar gaseous mixture is also proposed. The good agreement between computed and experimental N2-Ar data indicates that it is possible to predict the far-infrared absorption induced by N2 on the isotropic polarizability of any interacting partner.
