Liquid holdups and wall-to-bed heat transfer coefficients in three-phase fluidized beds with glass beads and cylindrical γ-alumina particles were determined experimentally. It was found that the product of heat transfer coefficient and liquid holdup in three-phase fludized beds is equal to that in corresponding liquid-solid fluidized beds. A generalized correlation equation for heat transfer coefficients in both liquid-solid and three-phase fluidized beds was proposed based on the above relationship.
