Summary A reversed phase HPLC method for the separation and determination of two anthranilic acid derivative esters, methyl anthranilate and methyl N-methylanthranilate, has been developed. These esters are aromatic compounds of wines and fruits. A gradient elution technique, using methanol: water changing from 40∶60 to 80∶20 mixtures, is used to decrease the analysis time. The sensitivity of the determination is improved by using fluorescence detection. The proposed method is applied to the determination of the esters in wines, brandies, grape beverages and fruit juices.
