Notes:
The resolution that can be obtained with small-angle neutron scattering facilities depends on the width of the selected wavelength band and on geometrical and other instrument-linked contributions. With the geometrical contribution for pin-hole geometry treated separately, it is shown that the intuitive choice of a symmetrical set-up (collimation length = sample-to-detector distance) is justified; it yields the maximum of intensity for fixed resolution and total length. This result has not been demonstrated so clearly in previous studies.
