Notes: Abstract We use sum rules in order to discuss the dynamics of the simplest subconstituent model of weak interactions with elementary spin 1/2 fermions and scalar bosons. Vacuum condensates of the scalars play an essential role and lead to features quite different from QCD. With a certain vacuum structure vector dominance of the composite W-mesons is a good approximation, and we also see a clear signal for massless fermions in the two-point function of composite fermions. Thus such a model is in good agreement with standard phenomenology. Composite Higgs particles are also investigated. The effective interaction is evidently of the gauge type.

Notes: Abstract We discuss in detail the supersymmetric instanton calculus of NSVZ and extend it to chiral matter fields in the, adjoint representation. The constant Green functions induced by the instanton of supersymmetricSU (2) gauge theories are calculated systematically for the cases with and without scalar vev's bigger than the scale of the gauge theory and for nonvanishing small masses of chiral fields. Oneinstanton contributions to the Green functions containing four fields without large vevs would disturb clustering; but they are argued to vanish; two-instanton effects then lead to a pattern which quantitatively agrees with factorization and the anomaly relation.

Notes: Abstract We investigate short distance singularities inside the Polyakov path integral in an arbitrary closed bosonic string background due to vertex operators and small handles or holes. The latter are represented in terms of handle or hole operators, which we construct explicitly. The requirement of global Weyl invariance generates loop-corrected equations of motion for the string modes including tadpole terms and self-energy corrections. The relation to theS-matrix and superstrings are discussed briefly.

Notes: Abstract We discuss a grand unified theory in the framework ofSU(n, 1) minimal supergravity with the Planck mass as the only input mass scale.M W ≈m 3/2 is fixed by radiative corrections to be naturally ≪M P1. Due to the particular form of explicit soft supersymmetry breaking a light singlet can be used to obtain naturally light Higgs doublets and for a new mechanism for radiativeSU (2)×U(1) breaking. The low energy particle spectrum is very restricted withm 3/2≈104 GeV.

Notes: Abstract We investigate an extension of the Standard Model with a second Higgs doublet, showing a two stage phase transition. Wash-out of a baryon asymmetry after the phase transition can be easily avoided in this class of models.B+L transitions are more strongly suppressed in the intermediate phase than in the high temperature symmetric phase, however. Therefore, it becomes more difficult if not impossible to generate a sufficient baryon asymmetry during the phase transition.

Notes: Abstract A numerical calculation of particle trajectories for a recently proposed triple-slit experiment has been performed by starting from the Einstein-de Broglie picture of wave-particle duality. The nonrelativistic quantum potential due to the sum of three quantum waves superimposing in space and time gives rise to an interference-like distribution of particle arrivals on a second screen that is not predicted to exist in the usual (“Copenhagen”) interpretation of quantum theory.

Notes: Abstract Arranging target atoms in a plane monolayer, one may produce by atomic or nuclear reaction an ensemble of particles with small initial position spread without disturbing their momentum spread. This would either allow a violation of Heisenberg's uncertainty relation, by creating a situation not described by quantum mechanics hence rendering quantum mechanics incomplete, or, if the uncertainty relation should hold also in this non-disturbative situation, it would mean a permanent violation of energy conservation. Thus an uncertainty relation for position and momentum and energy conservation appear to be mutually exclusive.

Notes: Abstract The profiles of Hα observed during the 1970–1992 period in the binary hypergiant HR 8752 (G0 Ia) are presented. We distinguish five typical Hα profiles designated as A, B, C, D and E types according to the number of emission and absorption features. The profiles of Hα are complex and contain several emission and absorption components, with: −130 km/s in emission or absorption, −84 km/s in absorption, −49 km/s in emission and about +6 km/s in emission. All of them are rather stable in radial velocities except of the main absorption component in the P Cygni profile with −84 km/s. The frequency of appearance and the periods of duration of the occurrence of the components is discussed. The duration times range between about 3 to 10 months for various components. The red emission component E2 is particularly interesting. Possible explanations of its origin are discussed. A long-term acceleration of the absorption component in the P Cygni profile is found; it can be interpreted as monotonous acceleration of the stellar wind.
