Notes: Abstract. Cadmium sulphide nanocrystals were grown at room temperature (20 °C) under arachidic acid monolayers floating over an aqueous solution of CdCl2 inside an enclosed Langmuir-Blodgett set-up, through slow infusion of H2S gas. X-ray diffraction spectra suggest an oriented growth of the crystallites. The particle sizes were found to increase with duration of exposure to the H2S gas. Atomic force microscopy indicated that the particles were nearly circular pellets with uniform morphology throughout. In Raman spectra, the FWHM of the LO phonon was found to be large (≈20 cm-1) for all the films grown with different exposure times in H2S gas, and was found to reduce to 8 cm-1 after annealing a typical sample at 500 °C for 45 min.

Notes: Abstract Numerical solution of the transient natural convection flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past an impulsively started semi-infinite vertical plate with variable surface heat flux and mass transfer is presented here. The governing equations are solved using implicit finite-difference scheme of Crank-Nicolson type. The velocity profiles are compared with exact solution and are found to be in good agreement. The transient and steady-state velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are shown graphically. It is observed that there is a rise in the velocity due to the presence of a mass diffusion. The local as well as average skin-friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are shown graphically.

Notes: Abstract Previous research has found that trust is positively related to commitment in buyer-seller relationships. However, the validity of this finding is questionable because trust has been operationalized in many different ways. For example, prior research has not distinguished among levels of trust (interpersonal or organizational trust) and dimensions or motives of trust (credibility or benevolence). In this study, we distinguish among the levels and dimensions of trust. The results indicate that trust in a sales representative (interpersonal credibility) is more strongly related to commitment than trust in an organization (organizational credibility). In contrast, trust based on organizational benevolence is a stronger predictor of commitment than interpersonal benevolence.

Notes: Abstract A numerical solution for the transient natural convection flow over a vertical cylinder under the combined buoyancy effect of heat and mass transfer is presented. The velocity, temperature and concentration profiles, local and average skin-friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are shown graphically. It is observed that time taken to reach steady state increases with Schmidt number and decreases as combined buoyancy ratio parameter N increases. Stability and convergence of the finite difference scheme are established.

Notes: Abstract  The main aim of the present investigation is to experimentally study the flow parameters inside a spherical combustion chamber of an indirect injection diesel engine. For this a spherical chamber has been fitted in the cylinder head. Using a constant temperature hot-wire anemometer, measurements have been made under non-firing condition at 400 and 500 rpm during compression stroke. Mean velocity and turbulence intensity values are evaluated from the hot-wire signal. Measurements are made at three axial planes, six angular locations and four radial positions. Large variations of mean velocity and turbulence intensity have been observed within the chamber. From the measurements, the mean velocity and turbulence intensity are found to be maximum at 30° before compression TDC and these values are found to decrease towards the centre of the pre-chamber. The mean velocity and turbulence intensity distribution with respect to various locations and crank angles are presented and discussed.

Notes: Abstract Finite difference solution of the transient free-convection flow of an incompressible viscous fluid past an impulsively started semi-infinite vertical plate with heat and mass transfer is presented here. The steady state velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are shown graphically. Velocity profiles are compared with exact solution. It has been observed that there is a rise in the velocity due to the presence of a mass diffusion. An increase in Schmidt number, leads to a fall in the velocity. Stability and the convergence of the finite difference scheme are established.

Notes: Abstract The unsteady natural convection boundary layer flow over a semi-infinite vertical cylinder is considered with combined buoyancy force effects, for the situation in which the surface temperature T ′ w(x) and C ′ w(x) are subjected to the power-law surface heat and mass flux as K(T ′/r) = −ax n and D(C ′/r) = −bx m . The governing equations are solved by an implicit finite difference scheme of Crank-Nicolson method. Numerical results are obtained for different values of Prandtl number, Schmidt number ‘n’ and ‘m’. The velocity, temperature and concentration profiles, local and average skin-friction, Nusselt and Sherwood numbers are shown graphically. The local Nusselt and Sherwood number of the present study are compared with the available result and a good agreement is found to exist.
