    Description: The Fungiidae are mushroom corals that live in sublittoral habitats in the tropical Indo-Pacific.\nTheir habitats are part of coral reefs or other marine substrata, which usually can be found in the proximity of the reefs.\nIn the present taxonomic revision, the family is divided into 11 genera; one of which, Fungia, is subdivided into seven subgenera. A total of 40 species is described and figured, three of which are new to science. One species is renamed.\nThe stratigraphic distribution is given for all the species recorded in fossil state. A tentative phylogenetic reconstruction down to the species level is given. The cladogram that is provided should be considered a working hypothesis and not a sound basis for a completely revised classification and nomenclature of the Fungiidae.\nFor each species the presently known geographic range is mapped. The pattern of species richness in the Indo-Pacific is compared with that of some other taxa and discussed with respect to their distributional patterns. The ranges of the Fungiidae are analyzed with the use of approaches from both historical and ecological biogeography.

    Description: This revision of Indonesian Millepora species is based on the morphology of museum specimens and photographed specimens in the field. Based on the use of pore characters and overall skeleton growth forms, which are normally used for the classification of Millepora, the present study concludes that six of seven Indo-Pacific species appear to occur in Indonesia, viz., M. dichotoma Forsk\xc3\xa5l, 1775, M. exaesa Forsk\xc3\xa5l, 1775, M. platyphylla Hemprich & Ehrenberg, 1834, M. intricata Milne-Edwards, 1857 (including M. intricata forma murrayi Quelch, 1884), M. tenera Boschma, 1949, and M. boschmai de Weerdt & Glynn, 1991, which so far was considered an East Pacific endemic. Of the 13 species previously reported from the Indo-Pacific, six were synonymized. M. murrayi Quelch, 1884, has been synonymized with M. intricata, which may show two distinct branching patterns, that may occur in separate corals or in a single one. M. latifolia Boschma, 1948, M. tuberosa Boschma, 1966, M. cruzi Nemenzo, 1975, M. xishaensis Zou, 1978, and M. nodulosa Nemenzo, 1984, are also considered synonyms. M. foveolata Crossland, 1952, is a distinct species but it has not been found in Indonesia.

    Description: A systematic description of the distributional pattern of 20 species of larger benthic foraminifera on the Spermonde Archipelago and their relation with environmental parameters is presented. Around 13 islands transects at the exposed and leeward slope were sampled. Apart from parameters like substrate type, hydrodynamic energy and light intensity (directly related to depth) also nutrient availability and environmental stabiltity determine the distribution over the shelf. Some of the species, and especially the calcarinids, are less specialised to some of these parameters than in other areas. Elphidium craticulatum, showing chloroplast husbandry, is an important fauna component.

    Description: A new species of ovulid gastropod is described from Bali as Pedicularia vanderlandi spec. nov. It was predominantly found in shallow water on the stylasterid hydrocoral Distichopora vervoorti Cairns & Hoeksema, 1998. The snails are compared with type specimens of congeneric taxa and with material of Pedicularia pacifica Pease, 1865, which was found in shallow water on an unidentified Stylaster. Various notes on Indo Pacific Pedicularia species are given in an annotated, preliminary check-list. Finally, the host relationships of Pedicularia are discussed in general.

    Description: A new species of coral inhabiting barnacle Cantellius cardenae spec. nov. (Crustacea, Cirripedia: Pyrgomatinae) is described. This barnacle was found on the staghorn coral Acropora (Isopora) brueggemanni (Scleractinia: Acroporidae). It is characterized by having transversally elongated scuta and narrow terga with a spur length more than half of the total tergal length. This species belongs to the secundus group of Cantellius, which includes barnacles with transversally elongated scuta, and which are limited to the Acroporidae. The distribution of C. cardenae supports the hypothesis that structurally specialized pyrgomatines occupy a more limited variety of hosts than do morphologicaly generalized ones.

    Description: Summary: A new Fungia species from the Bismarck Sea is described and its taxonomic position is discussed.\n\nINTRODUCTION\nThe Fungiidae have an important place among Indo-Pacific scleractinian reef corals. Many nominal species have been described in this family, but only about 40 of them proved to be valid (Hoeksema, in prep.) which is roughly 10% of the total number of living Indo-Pacific reef coral species. Only a few of these species do not occur in the central part of the Indo-Pacific, or more specifically the Indo-Malayan Region. The new species has been collected by both authors from different locations in Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.\nIn the most recent generic revision of the Fungiidae, the genera Fungia Lamarck, 1801 and Cycloseris Milne Edwards & Haime, 1849 are kept separate (Wells, 1966). The new species described below shows a combination of characters hitherto considered characteristic for either the former or the latter genus. Therefore the relationship between both genera is also discussed.\nThe type material is deposited at the Rijksmuseum van Natuurlijke Historie, Leiden (RMNH) and at the Institut Royal des Sciences Naturelles de Belgique, Bruxelles (IRSNB).\n\nTAXONOMIC ACCOUNT\nFungia (Verrillofungia) spinifer spec. nov. (figs. 2-8) Type material. - RMNH 17620 (holotype); 17621,17622,17623, IRSNB 27009-401 (paratypes of Fungia spinifer, type loc.
