Description: The early Aptian Oceanic Anoxic Event (OAE1a, 120 Ma) represents a geologically brief time interval in the mid-Cretaceous greenhouse world that is characterized by increased organic carbon accumulation in marine sediments, sudden biotic changes, and abrupt carbon-isotope excursions indicative of significant perturbations to global carbon cycling. The brevity of these drastic environmental changes (〈 10**6 year) and the typically 10**6 year temporal resolution of the available chronologies, however, represent a critical gap in our knowledge of OAE1a. We have conducted a high-resolution investigation of three widely distributed sections, including the Cismon APTICORE in Italy, Santa Rosa Canyon in northeastern Mexico, and Deep Sea Drilling Project (DSDP) Site 398 off the Iberian margin in the North Atlantic Ocean, which represent a range of depositional environments where condensed and moderately expanded OAE1a intervals are recorded. The objectives of this study are to establish orbital chronologies for these sections and to construct a common, high-resolution timescale for OAE1a. Spectral analyses of the closely-spaced (corresponding to ~5 to 10 kyr) measurements of calcium carbonate content of the APTICORE, magnetic susceptibility (MS) and anhysteretic remanent magnetization (ARM) of the Santa Rosa samples, and MS, ARM and ARM/IRM, where IRM is isothermal remanent magnetization, of Site 398 samples reveal statistically significant cycles. These cycles exhibit periodicity ratios and modulation patterns similar to those of the mid-Cretaceous orbital cycles, suggesting that orbital variations may have modulated depositional processes. Orbital control allows us to estimate the duration of unique, globally identifiable stages of OAE1a. Although OAE1a had a duration of ~1.0 to 1.3 Myr, the initial perturbation represented by the negative carbon-isotope excursion was rapid, lasting for ~27-44 kyr. This estimate could serve as a basis for constraining triggering mechanisms for OAE1a.

Notes: In this paper, the spin configuration and the configurational anisotropy of the clusterswere studied by Monte Carlo simulations. An easy magnetization directions and a configurational anisotropy were found for the clusters using the hysteresis and spin configurations in different magnetization processes, and the simulated natural angle and energy distribution. It is considered that the configurational anisotropy is mainly attributed to the non-uniformity in spin configurations

Notes: Ceramics metal functionally graded materials (FGM) is applied on the dual friction pair of the green automobiles. The structure and component characteristics of FGM are better, compared with traditional Ceramics. Even with the same components, FGM bears an outstanding mechanical performance and its cracking strength, toughness and fatigue strength are relatively superior. The influence of Ceramicsmetal functionally graded materials on the performance of automobiles are analyzed via a comparative research and comparison of the external characteristics of automobile is made in terms of mechanism. The results indicate that the power output, fuel consumption and durability are improved considerably on the green automobiles. Improvement is also made on the wearing capability, lubricity andsealing performance as well. Hence comes the reduction of friction loss and leakage loss. The principal abrasion mechanism of FGM is plastic flowing and the secondary are brittle failure and grain abrasion

Notes: Si-based high-temperature ceramics are attractive materials for powermicroelectromechanical systems (power MEMS), such as microscale gas turbines, micro-combustors and micro-reactors. This presentation introduces a novel process for the microfabrication of Si3N4 ceramics, which mainly consists of pre-sintering of Si powder compacts, micromachining of pre-sintered Si preforms and reaction sintering of the micromachined Si preforms. The present process has its high potential for Si3N4 3-dimensional microfabrication because it combines themachinablity of pre-sintered Si powder compacts and near-net shaping characteristic of S3N4 reaction sintering. Si3N4 micro-components such as micro nozzle arrays and micro-rotor were fabricated by using the present process

Notes: The quantum transmission characteristic of three-terminal C60 molecular bridge is investigatedtheoretically by using Green's function approach based on tight-binding theory with only one π orbital per carbonatom inside C60 molecule. The transmission spectra that electrons transport through the C60 molecular bridge fromone terminal to the other two terminals are obtained. The electronic current distributions inside the molecularbridge are calculated and shown in graphical analogy by the current density method based on Fisher-Lee formulaat the energy points E=±0.42, ±1.06 and ±1.5, respectively, where the transmission probabilities appear peaks. Wefound that the transmission spectra are related to the incident electronic energy, and depend on C60 molecularlevels strongly. We also found that the electrons transport through the C60 molecular bridge symmetrically, andthe multi-point switching properties depend on the energy. That the current distributions in the C60 molecularbridge agree well with Kirchhoff quantum current momentum conservation law is shown

Notes: Thermal errors of CNC machine tools was checked and measured by double-ball bar inthis paper. Mathematical model of measuring thermal error of machine tools by DBB on theprinciple of its basic measurement was derived. Combining it with kinematics model of machinetool, the identification law of error component parameters was established when thermal error waschecked and measured by DBB. Thus, all of the thermal error component would be separated fromthe synthetical error. Finally, the entire analysis was provided to adjust machine tool and actualizeerror compensation of machine tool through grasping main factors influencing the machiningprecision of machine tool

Notes: Pure-phase 2at% Nd:YAG powder was synthesized by alcohol-water co-precipitation method.2at% Nd:YAG ceramics were sintered at 1780 °C for 10 h under vacuum using the powder. Sinteringability of the powder was studied by comparing the results of alcohol-water solvent with those of distilledwater solvent. The effects of different volume ratios of alcohol to water (R) on transparent ceramics havebeen also studied. Transparent ceramics having a transmittance of 40% in the visible wavelength havebeen sintered without sintering additive using the powder (R=0.8), which is much better than ceramics(16%) prepared using the powder derived from distilled water solvent under the same sinteringconditions. In addition, the different R does not have much influence on the transmittance of ceramics inthe present work. Compared with the results of distilled water solvent, the powders, using alcohol-watermixtures with different R as solvent, are more beneficial to the sintering of high transparent ceramics

Notes: YSZ molten droplets created by plasma spraying were deposited on the YSZ substratepreheated to different temperature from 75oC to 1000oC. The results showed that there is little changein crack spacing when substrate temperature is less than about 740oC, and a significant increase incrack spacing from 3.54 μm at 740oC to 10.91 μm at 1000oC was observed. A simple qualitativemodel was proposed on the basis of the origin of thermal stresses to explain the influence of substrateinitial temperature on crack density characterized by crack spacing. The analysis indicates that theresults can be ascribed to the changes in tensile stress and splat/substrate adhesion resulting fromchanges of substrate initial temperature
