Notes: [Auszug] The latent transcription factor Stat3 is activated by gp130, the common receptor for the interleukin (IL)-6 cytokine family and other growth factor and cytokine receptors. Ligand-induced dimerization of gp130 leads to activation of the Stat1, Stat3 and Shp2-Ras-Erk signaling pathways. Here we ...

Notes: In numerical simulation of engineering problems, it is important to properly simulate theinterface between two adjacent parts of the model. In finite element method, there are generally threemethods for simulating interface problems: interface element method, surface based contact methodand the method by using a thin layer of continuum elements. In this paper, simulation of interfaceproblems is conducted using continuum elements and surface based contact methods. The resultsfrom each method are presented and compared with each other

Notes: In this paper, a novel parallel mechanism (3-RRRS/UPR) used in flexible fixture withconfiguration composed of two parallel robots (2-RR and 3-RRRS/ UPR) is presented. First, systemmodeling including the mobility study is conducted. Then a novel methodology is proposed thatmakes use of screw theory to analyze the deformation and stiffness of the mechanism: firstly weidentified the existence of the deformation of the subchain, in terms of the relationship between theeffective screw and deformation screw; then we took the deformation as an infinitesimal motion ofthe mechanism, and the stiffness matrix corresponding to the deformation can be deduced. Finallythe global stiffness matrix of the whole mechanism is modeled by assembling different stiffnesscharacters based on the presented methodology

Notes: This paper is mainly concerned with the saturated-unsaturated seepage analysis of earthdams based on unsaturated soil theory and the stability analysis of earth dams based on conceptionof slices. At first, beginning basic seepage theory, thesis introduce the saturated-unsaturated andsteady-unsteady seepage differential equation of porous media and the FEM regarding hydraulicpressure head as basic unknown quantity. Then considering the shear strength of unsaturated soil, the method of analysis of general limit equilibrium has been approved and it can be used in theanalysis of the stability of saturated-unsaturated slopes. Through an example it is respectivelydiscussed effects of seepage flow when water head is changed in earth dam and the effects ofpercolation in the stability of the earth dam slope. Some helpful conclusions are gained. This can bemaking the best of the tow methods and the results can be used in engineering for reference

Notes: Metal dusting is a catastrophic corrosion phenomenon that leads to the disintegration ofstructural metals and alloys into dust composed of fine particles of the metal/alloy and carbon at hightemperature. Considerable research efforts has been taken on the initiation of metal dusting in thealloy since it was observed. However, the previous researches were focused mostly on the initiationmechanisms of metal dusting without external applied loads. In fact, structural materials are mostlyused with external applied loads. It is thus necessary to study the initiation and propagationmechanism of metal dusting in the stressed condition. In the present work pure bending testing ofCr-Mo alloy in metal dusting condition was performed. The laboratory experiments were performedat 560°C, using a synthesis gas mixture with composition 75%H2 + 25%CO. The maximum bendingstresses were 100MPa, 50MPa, 10MPa and 0MPa, respectively. Post exposure metallographicalexaminations, SEM, EDX analysis were made in order to identify the difference between loaded andunloaded specimens. The effect of mechanical and chemical interaction on high temperaturecorrosion was preliminary discussed

Notes: Soil nailing is a widely used technique for stabilizing slopes and excavations. In all currentdesign methods, the nail-soil interface shear strength, that is, the pull-out resistance of a soil nail is animportant parameter which controls the design and safety assessment of the soil nailing system. Thepressure grouting is a cost effective method for increasing the soil nail pull-out resistance and in turnimproving the performance of the nailed structure. In this paper, a three dimensional (3-D) finiteelement (FE) model for pull-out tests is established and verified by comparing simulated results withmeasured data. This model is then used to simulate the effect of grouting pressure on the soil nailpull-out resistance

Notes: The silicon-containing polyimide/BaTiO3 nanocomposite films were prepared by mixingthe silicon-containing poly(amic acid) based on bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl)dimethylsilanedianhydride and 4,4'-Oxydianiline with BaTiO3 nanoparticles, followed by thermal imidization.Structure and properties of the nanocomposite films were measured with FTIR, SEM, XPS andDMTA. The results indicated that the interfacial interaction between BaTiO3 nanoparticles and thesilicon-containing polyimide was conspicuous, and that BaTiO3 nanoparticles appeared to be betterdispersed in the polyimide matrix at a higher BaTiO3 concentration than at a lower one. The siliconcontainingpolyimide/BaTiO3 nanocomposite films exhibited higher storage modulus and glasstransition temperature than the original polyimide. It was also found that the infrared emissivity ofthe nanocomposite films varied with the content of BaTiO3 in the nanocomposites, and thenanocomposite films exhibited lower infrared emissivity value than the corresponding polyimide bymeasure of infrared emissivity

Notes: Soil nailing, developed from the New Austrian Tunnelling Method, has been widely usedin many countries and regions in the world since the 1970’s. This technique is used to stabilize in situsoil mass by installing a large number of closely spaced unstressed inclusions into the soil mass toincrease its strength and stability. Since the mid 1970’s, several design methods have been proposedbased on laboratory and field tests. Among the design criteria in these methods, the pull-out resistanceof a soil nail is a key parameter that controls the stability assessment of soil nail structure. In theprevious investigations, the soil dilatancy was found to be an important factor that influences the soilnail pull-out resistance especially for drill-and-grout soil nails. In order to study the influence of soildilatancy on soil nail pull-out resistance, laboratory pull-out tests and numerical parametric studieshave been carried out for soil nails in Completely Decomposed Granite (CDG) fill. The results showthat the soil dilatancy has a significant influence on the soil nail pull-out resistance

Notes: This paper is mainly concerned with the saturated-unsaturated seepage analysis ofembankment dams based on unsaturated soil theory and the reliability analysis of embankment dambased on conception of reliability. The transient seepage due to change of the water level iscalculated using the finite element method based on unifying saturated-unsaturated seepagegoverning equations. The transient pore water pressures are then used for stability analyses ofembankment dam considering the effects of suction on shear strength of unsaturated soils.Meanwhile, combined with reliability computation, the Monte-Carlo stimulation method is used tocalculate the corresponding reliability index dealing with the stochastic features of soil parameters. The reliability of different water level condition of embankment dams has been analyzed. Theeffects of different reservoir water level drawdown and raise speeds on reliability of embankmentdam are discussed

Notes: According to unified strength parameters obtained from unified strength theory, the slopeof critical state line is modified to reflect critical states of different geomaterials under general stressstates. Yield function that can consider the effect of the third deviatoricic invariant is proposed, andan elasto-plastic constitutive model is established by adopting non-associated flow rules;furthermore, methods of overcoming singular points on the yield surface are discussed. Theproposed model is verified by true triaxial tests of clay, and results show that the model can wellpredict stress-strain relationships
