Notes: The problem of finding a class of solutions of Einstein's field equations for the interior of a uniformly rotating, axisymmetric perfect fluid is reduced to the integration of a known function. A number of solutions of the class is given explicitly. The equipressure surfaces of all solutions of the class are planes. The class contains solutions with the equation of state p=γμ, γ〉0, 0〉γ≥−1+2/(5)1/2, and γ≤−1−2/(5)1/2, which are given explicitly.

Notes: Although firms increasingly invest in systems (e.g. ISO, knowledge centres, IT systems) for utilizing stored knowledge and acquiring market information during new product development, few manage to benefit from these investments. To explore this issue, we suggest that firms rely on two distinct types of knowledge stocks– procedural and declarative memory – that affect new product short-term financial performance and creativity in distinct ways. Additionally, we suggest that internal or external information flows can have distinct moderating impact on the memory types–product outcomes relationship. Our empirical study of product development activities indicates that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between procedural memory and product outcomes as well as a positive relationship between declarative memory and financial performance. Also procedural and declarative memory may work in a complementary fashion enhancing both outcomes. Finally, procedural memory is found to reduce the value of internal or external information flows for product creativity. These findings have important implications for the organizational knowledge, capabilities, and product development literatures as well as for practice and they open ways for future research.

Notes: Abstract Mammalian selenium-containing proteins can be divided into three groups: proteins containing nonspecifically incorporated selenium, specific selenium-binding proteins, and specific selenocysteine-containing selenoproteins. Selenoproteins with known functions identified so far include five glutathione peroxidases, two deiodinases, several thioredoxin reductases, and selenophosphate synthetase 2. Alternative splicing leads to a greater variety of selenoproteins, as was shown in the cases of a specific sperm nuclei glutathione peroxidase and some thioredoxin reductases. Selenoprotein P, selenoprotein W, a 15-kDa selenoprotein, an 18-kDa selenoprotein, and several selenoproteins identified in silico from nucleotide sequence databases were found to contain selenocysteine but their functions are not known. Gel electrophoretic separation of tissue samples from rats labeled in vivo with 75Se showed the existence of further selenium-containing proteins.

Notes: The Comprehensive Nuclear Test-Ban Treaty prohibits the testing of nuclear weapons and establishes an international monitoring system to collect data for international verification of the treaty. The objective of verification is to discriminate between nuclear explosions and all other events detected by the monitoring system. Monitoring is performed through a network of seismological, radionuclide, hydroacoustic and infrasound stations. The data will be collected and analyzed at the International Data Center in Vienna, and the results of the analyses will be used to verify compliance or detect non-compliance. For all the simplicity of the concept, there are questions about the effective operation of the international verification regime. The treaty establishes an elaborate system for collecting and processing the data from the monitoring stations, but it is ambiguous on the decision-making process for ascertaining non-compliance. This paper describes the objectives and architecture of the International Monitoring System and its relationship to the verification goals of the treaty.

Notes: Abstract The gesture segmentation problem is introduced as the first step towards visual gesture recognition i.e. with the detection, analysis and recognition of gestures from sequences of real images. Our gesture segmentation scheme is composed of two steps: accurate gesture contour tracking in space domain, and continuous tracking in time domain. Experimental results and implementations issues are presented.

Notes: Abstract In this paper, we demonstrate a reliable and robust system for localization of mobile robots in indoors environments which are relatively consistent to a priori known maps. Through the use of an Extended Kalman Filter combining dead-reckoning, ultrasonic, and infrared sensor data, estimation of the position and orientation of the robot is achieved. Based on a thresholding approach, unexpected obstacles can be detected and their motion predicted. Experimental results from implementation on our mobile robot, Nomad-200, are also presented.

Notes: Abstract During X-ray based quality inspection, accurate reconstruction of a 3D object model from a set of its 2D X-ray projections requires efficient geometric calibration, i.e., accurate estimation of the geometric parameters of the setup. We present a calibration methodology for the estimation of the geometric parameters of single-head cone-beam X-ray radiography systems. Our method is related to known approaches regarding camera calibration and geometric calibration of tomography/radiography systems, but performs better in terms of computational efficiency.

Notes: Abstract The class of previously found stationary axisymmetric perfect fluid solutions of Einstein's equations is written inh-orthogonal coordinates,h being a space-like coordinate. Matching of a big number of solutions of the class with each other seems to be possible for a proper choice of some parameters. The exterior solutions of the class are matched explicitly with interior solutions. Also, interior solutions are matched explicitly with each other.

Notes: Abstract A general class of solutions of Einstein's equations for the interior of a rigidly rotating axisymmetric perfect fluid is presented, which depends on an arbitrary function. To get solutions explicitly one has to calculate two integrals involving the arbitrary function. The equipressure surfaces of all solutions of the class are spheres or planes. A family of solutions, which depend on four arbitrary real constants, is calculated explicitly. The solution of the family, which is obtained if we assign a specific value to one of its parameters, and which was found before, is futher generalized with the addition of one more parameter.
