    Notes: Summary An algorithm for computing a set of knots which is optimal for the segment approximation problem is developed. The method yields a sequence of real numbers which converges to the minimal deviation and a corresponding sequence of knot sets. This sequence splits into at most two subsequences which converge to leveled sets of knots. Such knot sets are optimal. Numerical results concerning piecewise polynomial approximation are given.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Unter Anwendung der thermochemische Methode werden die Bestimmungen von SiO2, Al2O3, Na2O, SO3 und Feuchte in feindispersen Kieselsäuren und Silikaten beschrieben. Besonders eingegangen wird auf die aufeinanderfolgende Bestimmung von SiO2 und Al2O3 sowie der hierbei beobachteten Vorteile und Störungen. Über die Möglichkeit der Verwendung der kinetisch-katalytischen Analyse mit thermometrischer Indikation zur Bestimmung von Cu und Mn werden Ausführungen gemacht. Der zweite Teil des Vortrages befaßt sich mit der Benetzungs- und Immersionswärme von feindispersen Kieselsäuren und Angaben zur Bestimmung dieser auch unter betriebsanalytischen Bedingungen. Für verschiedene Kieselsäuretypen werden unterschiedliche Benetzungswärmen gefunden. Auf die Notwendigkeit der Weiterführung solcher Messungen wird verwiesen.
    Abstract: Резюме Описано определение термохимическими методами двуокиси кр емния, окиси алюминия, окиси натри я, трехокиси серы и вла ги в тонкодисперсных кре мневых кислотах и силикатах. Наряду с п реимуществом этого м етода и мешающих факторов, ос обое внимание уделено определению двуокиси кремния и ок иси алюминия. Обсуждена в озможность использования кинет ического каталитиче ского анализа с термометри ческим установление м конечной точки при оп ределении меди и марг анца. Авторы касаются теплот смач ивания и погружения тонкоди сперсной кремневой к ислоты и приводят данные для и х определения в услови ях промышленного ана лиза. Найдены различия в те плотах смачивания для различных типов к ремневой кислоты. Про веденные исследования показа ли необходимость дальн ейших измерений.
    Notes: Abstract The authors describe the determination of the SiO2, Al2O3, Na2O, SO3 and moisture contents of finely dispersed silicic acids and silicates by means of thermochemical methods. Special interest is paid to the determination of SiO2 and Al2O3 as well as to the advantages of the method and to disturbing factors. The possibility of using kinetic-catalytic analysis with thermometric end-point detection for Cu and Mn determination is discussed. In the second part of the paper the authors deal with the heat of wetting and heat of immersion of finely dispersed silicic acid, and give data for their determination under circumstances of industrial analysis too. Differences in the heats of wetting were found for the different types of silicic acid. These studies require further measurements to be made.

    Notes: Abstract Using monochromatized synchrotron radiation with variable photon energyE i=33.94keV...34.54keV, Resonant Raman Scattering (RRS) by free Xenon atoms (B 1s=34.566keV) was investigated. The measured double-differential RRS cross sections are in excellent agreement with those calculated in the non-relativistic dipole approximation, modified by some relativistic corrections, and including the interference corrections predicted by Tulkki and Åberg. Within the experimental error of 5 % the RRS cross section is found to be independent of the scattering angle and of the polarization of the incident photons.

    Description / Table of Contents: Zusammenfassung Für eine anwendungstechnische Beurteilung von amorphen synthetischen Kieselsäuren sind neben der Dispersität und Morphologie insbesondere auch strukturelle Eigenschaften bedeutsam. Die vorliegende Veröffentlichung zeigt, daß auf der Basis von thermoanalytischen Untersuchungen eine Unterscheidung unterschiedlicher Kieselsäuretypen möglich ist. Aus den TG- und DTA-Ergebnissen sind dabei Aussagen über die Art und Menge des adsorptiv bzw. chemisch gebundenen Wassers, sowie die oxydative Zersetzung des organischen Beschichtungsmittels abzuleiten.
    Abstract: Резюме Для практического ис пользования аморфны х синтетических кремн евых кислот требуется знание их с труктурных особенно стей, наряду с дисперсионными и мо рфологическими. В статье показана воз можность идентифика ции различных типов крем невых кислот на основ е их термоаналитических исследований. Резуль таты ТГ и ДТА измерений дают инфор мацию о типе и количестве адсорби рованной или химичес ки связанной воде, а также об окисли тельном разложении органиче ских покрытий.
    Notes: Abstract Besides dispersity and morphology, structural characteristics are of importance for the estimation of amorphous synthetic silicic acids with regard to their application. The present publication shows that it is possible to identify the different silicic acid types on the basis of thermoanalytical studies. The TG and DTA results provide information on the type and quantity of adsorbed or chemically bound water, and on the oxidative decomposition of the organic coating agent.
