    Notes: Purpose - The focus of this paper is to develop an econometric model that measures the changes in GDP for the OIC states. Design/methodology/approach - This paper focuses on the development of an econometric model which measures the changes of gross domestic product (GDP) for the members of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries. In particular, we analyze the growth of GDP in the OIC countries and their implications for expanded marketing opportunities for goods and services. We also discuss some challenges the marketers may face in future if the formation of OIC countries block become an economic identity and set up some sort of confederation. Findings - The problem of multi-collinearity needs to be solved if the model is not going to change. Originality/value - The recommended solution is to acquire more data on the countries that were absent from the original sample. This may be hard to obtain due to some countries not having a process for collecting accurate statistics.

    Notes: Summary The ‘arming’ of normal peripheral blood leukocytes (PBL) by cytophilic antibody in the sera of prostatic cancer patients is suppressed by pretreatment of PBL with normal human seminal plasma (HuSP1). Suppression of cytophilic antibody by HuSP1 extends the spectrum of immunologic reactions on which SP1 has an immunosuppressive effect and may provide further insight into the possible role of SP1 in the natural history of prostatic cancer.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Monocristalli puri di PbI2 sono stati accresciuti con la tecnica di raffinazione a zone ed è stata registrata la distribuzione spettrale della fotocorrente con l'uso di diversi laser a colore conE‖c eE⊥c. Il bordo di assorbimento fondamentale appare a 2.36 eV (E⊥c) e appare essere dicromatico in natura con una separazione di 0.05 eV. Lo schema di decadimento della fotocorrente a diversi voltaggi, temperature ed intensità d'illuminazione è stato usato per calcolare le vite medie dei portatori di carica. Le caratteristiche di voltaggio-fotocorrente sono state usate per calcolare la concentrazione di trappole e la mobilità dei portatori di carica. Le caratteristiche lux-ampère alla frequenza del bordo della banda sono state studiate con diversi voltaggi applicati.
    Abstract: Резюме Выращивается чистый монокристалл PbI2. Регистрируется спектральное распределение фототока, используя различные лазеры на красителях, в случаеE‖c иE⊥c. Фундаментальный край поглощения возникает при 2.36 эВ (E⊥c). Обнаружена дихроматичность с расщеплением 0.05 эВ. Кривые затухания фототока при различных напряжениях, температурах и интенсивностях облучения используется для вычисления времени жизни носителей заряда. Зависимость фототока от напряжения используется для вычисления концентрации ловушек и подвижности носителей зарядов. При различных приложенных напряжениях исследуются зависимости фототока от интенсивности облучения при частотах, соответствующих краю зоны.
    Notes: Summary Pure PbI2 single crystals have been grown by the zone-refining technique and the spectral distribution of the photocurrent by using different dye-lasers has been recorded withE‖c andE⊥c. The fundamental absorption edge appears at 2.36 eV (E⊥c) and is found to be dichromatic in nature with a splitting of 0.05 eV. The decay pattern of the photocurrent at different voltages, temperatures and intensities of illumination has been used to calculate the lifetimes of charge carriers. The photocurrent-voltage characteristics have been used to calculate the trap concentration and mobility of the charge carriers. The lux-ampère characteristics at the band edge frequency have been studied at different applied voltages.

    Notes: Abstract The microstructures ofβ′-Si-Al-O-N ceramics of base composition Si4Al2O2N6 with large MgO additive (6 to 7 wt %) have been compared in the hot-pressed and sintered conditions. In both ceramics Mg shows only a small solubility inβ′ crystals and is mainly segregated in a “matrix” phase. In hot-pressed materials this is an Mg-Al-silicate glass whereas in sintered materials, inhomogeneities in composition and internal cavities are believed to catalyse its crystallization as the spinel phase (MgAl2O4 with partial Si substitution). A minor phase in sintered ceramics is the 15R “polytype” of the AlN structure.

    Notes: Abstract Fine-grained ceramics, based on the substituted β-Si3N4 crystal structure, have been prepared with near theoretical densities by pressureless sintering of compacts containing a large Y2O3 additive concentration. The microstructure contains two phases, β and an Y/Al rich “silicate” glassy matrix, in the “as-sintered” condition. The matrix may be crystallized on heat treatment to a Si-substituted yttrium-aluminium garnet phase. The phase compositions and transformation mechanisms have been analysed by X-ray microanalysis, electron diffraction and imaging of thin sections. A preliminary survey of mechanical properties of these sintered ceramics shows that they are comparable with commercial hot-pressed silicon nitrides, particularly at high temperatures. The possibility of development of a range of ceramic “alloys”, dependent on their chemical environment and temperature of application, is discussed.

    Notes: Abstract. Odd parity autoionizing Rydberg levels of atomic lead in the energy region above the 6p1/2 ionization threshold have been investigated using three-step laser excitation in conjunction with an atomic beam apparatus. The 6p3/2ns (J = 1, 2), 6p3/2nd (J = 1, 2, 3) and 6p3/2ng (J = 2, 3) levels have been observed from the 6p5f 1/2[5/2]2 intermediate level. Energy values and FWHM of forty levels belonging to the 6p3/2ns, 6p3/2nd and 6p3/2ng configurations are presented. Six levels based on the 6p3/2ng (5, 13 ≤n ≤15) configurations and three levels attached to the 6p3/28d configuration are reported for the first time. The present study of the low-lying autoionizing levels attached to the 6p3/25g (J = 2, 3) configuration completes the series adjacent to the 6p1/2 limit.

    Notes: Abstract Extraction of Mo(VI) by 4-(5-nonyl)pyridine (NPy) in benzene from mineral acid solutions containing thiocyanate ions has been investigated at room temperature (23±2°C). From mineral acid (HCl, HNO3, and H2SO4) solutions alone Mo(VI) is not extracted quantitatively while the presence of small amounts of KSCN in the system augments the extraction by a large factor. Stoichiometric studies indicate that ion-pair type complexes (NPyH)2·[MoO2(SCN)4] are responsible for the extraction. Separation factors determined at fixed extraction conditions (0.1M Npy/C6H6−0.1M acid +0.2M KSCN) reveal that Ag(I), Cu(II), Co(II), Zn(II), Hg(II) and U(VI) are co-extracted while a clean separation from alkali metals, alkaline earths and some transition metals like Ln(III), Zr(IV), Hf(IV), Cr(III), Cr(VI) and Ir(III) is possible. Some of the complexing anions like oxalate, citrate, acetate, thiosulfate or ascorbate do not affect the degree of extraction of Mo(VI) allowing it to be recovered from diverse matrices.
