Description: The hydroxy amino acids have its unique effects in the biotechnology and molecular biology, and all sorts of synthetic hydroxy amino acids have also been developed. The hydroxy amino acids have been proved to be valuable for antifungal, antibacterial, antiviral and anticancer properties and known as a constituent of pharmaceutical intermediates. In addition to these fundamental researches, the hydroxy amino acids are applied widely to the synthesis of chiral drugs, such as (2 S , 3 R , 4 S )-4-hydroxyisoleucine (4-HIL) is proved to be worthy in medical treatment, cis -4-hydroxy-L-proline (C4LHyp) and trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline (T4LHyp) are applied to build the chiral intermediates in pharmaceutical synthesis. Through comparisons chemical synthesis with biological catalysis to form hydroxy amino acids, enantioselective biocatalysts will undoubtedly be used in the synthesis of chiral pharmaceuticals. Mononuclear non-heme Fe(II)/α-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxyge...

Description: A laboratory experiment of biological treatment has been performed with multilevel bio-contact oxidation system to treat the actual automobile painting wastewater pre-treated by physicochemical processes. The influence of three important process operating parameters (namely, hydraulic retention time, dissolved oxygen concentration, organic loading) on treating efficiency of multilevel bio-contact oxidation system has been investigated, and the optimum process operating parameters have been determined.

Description: In 310-80 K pre-cooling stage, the temperature of the HP helium stream reduces to about 80 K where nearly 73% of the enthalpy drop from room temperature to 4.5 K occurs. Apart from the most common liquid nitrogen pre-cooling, another 310-80 K pre-cooling configuration with turbine is employed in some helium cryoplants. In this paper, thermodynamic and economical performance of these two kinds of 310-80 K pre-cooling stage configurations has been studied at different operating conditions taking discharge pressure, isentropic efficiency of turbines and liquefaction rate as independent parameters. The exergy efficiency, total UA of heat exchangers and operating cost of two configurations are computed. This work will provide a reference for choosing 310-80 K pre-cooling stage configuration during design.

Description: Although numerous studies have investigated the individual effects of salinity, irrigation and fertilization on soil microbial communities, relatively less attention has been paid to their combined influences, especially using molecular techniques. Based on the field of orthogonal designed test and deoxyribonucleic acid sequencing technology, the effects of saline water irrigation amount, salinity level of irrigation water and nitrogen (N) fertilizer rate on soil bacterial community structure were investigated. The results showed that the irrigation amount was the most dominant factor in determining the bacterial richness and diversity, followed by the irrigation water salinity and N fertilizer rate. The values of Chao1 estimator, abundance-based coverage estimator and Shannon indices decreased with an increase in irrigation amount while increased and then decreased with an increase in irrigation water salinity and N fertilizer rate. The highest soil bacterial richness and diversity were obtained under the least irrigation amount (25 mm), medium irrigation water salinity (4.75 dS/m) and medium N fertilizer rate (350 kg/ha). However, different bacterial phyla were found to respond distinctively to these three factors: irrigation amount significantly affected the relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Chloroflexi; irrigation water salinity mostly affected the members of Actinobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes and Acidobacteria; and N fertilizer rate mainly influenced the Bacteroidetes' abundance. The results presented here revealed that the assessment of soil microbial processes under combined irrigation and fertilization treatments needed to be more careful as more variable consequences would be established by comparing with the influences based on an individual factor, such as irrigation amount or N fertilizer rate.

Description: Filaments are a type of wide-existing astronomical structure. It is a challenge to separate filaments from radio astronomical images, because their radiation is usually weak. What is more, filaments often mix with bright objects, e.g., stars, which makes it difficult to separate them. In order to extract filaments, A. Men’shchikov proposed a method “getfilaments” to find filaments automatically. However, the algorithm removed tiny structures by counting connected pixels number simply. Removing tiny structures based on local information might remove some part of the filaments because filaments in radio astronomical image are usually weak. In order to solve this problem, we applied morphology components analysis (MCA) to process each singe spatial scale image and proposed a filaments extraction algorithm based on MCA. MCA uses a dictionary whose elements can be wavelet translation function, curvelet translation function, or ridgelet translation function to decompose images. Different selection of elements in the dictionary can get different morphology components of the spatial scale image. By using MCA, we can get line structure, gauss sources, and other structures in spatial scale images and exclude the components that are not related to filaments. Experimental results showed that our proposed method based on MCA is effective in extracting filaments from real radio astronomical images, and images processed by our method have higher peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR).
