    Description: Phengite exsolution in omphacite from the Yematan eclogite, North Qaidam UHP belt, NW China, is described. Mineralogical investigations show that the precursor omphacite in the Yematan eclogite contains up to 1.16 wt% K 2 O and ~10 000 ppm H 2 O. Experimental studies document this omphacite to be formed at pressures higher than 6 GPa (at 900 °C). The pressure-temperature conditions of 3.68 GPa and 892 °C for phengite exsolution in omphacite associated with garnet during the exhumation were obtained by using Grt-Omp-Ph geothermobarometer. We conclude that omphacitic-clinopyroxene in subducted eclogites may act as a robust medium to transport H 2 O and potassium deep into the interior of the Earth. This study suggests that the Yematan eclogite in North Qaidam UHP metamorphic belt, NW China, may have been subducted and exhumed from depths of more than 200 km.

    Description: 〈span〉〈div〉Abstract〈/div〉The Dahutang tungsten deposit, located in the Yangtze Block, South China, is one of the largest tungsten deposits in the world. Tungsten mineralization is closely related to Mesozoic granitic plutons. A drill core through a pluton in the Dalingshang ore block in the Central segment of the Dahutang tungsten deposit shows that the pluton is characterized by multi-stage intrusive phases including biotite granite, muscovite granite, and Li-mica granite. The granites are strongly peraluminous and rich in P and F. Decreasing bulk-rock (La/Yb)〈sub〉N〈/sub〉 ratios and total rare earth element (ΣREE) concentrations from the biotite granite to muscovite granite and Li-mica granite suggest an evolution involving the fractional crystallization of plagioclase. Bulk-rock Li, Rb, Cs, P, Sn, Nb, and Ta contents increase with decreasing Zr/Hf and Nb/Ta ratios, denoting that the muscovite granite and Li-mica granite have experienced a higher degree of magmatic fractionation than the biotite granite. In addition, the muscovite and Li-mica granites show M-type lanthanide tetrad effect, which indicates hydrothermal alteration during the post-magmatic stage. The micas are classified as lithian biotite and muscovite in the biotite granite, muscovite in the muscovite granite, and Li-muscovite and lepidolite in the Li-mica granite. The Li, F, Rb, and Cs contents of micas increase, while FeO〈sup〉T〈/sup〉, MgO, and TiO〈sub〉2〈/sub〉 contents decrease with increasing degree of magmatic fractionation. Micas in the muscovite granite and Li-mica granite exhibit compositional zonation in which Si, Rb, F, Fe, and Li increase, and Al decreases gradually from core to mantle, consistent with magmatic differentiation. However, the outermost rim contains much lower contents of Si, Rb, F, Fe, and Li, and higher Al than the mantle domains due to metasomatism in the presence of fluids. The variability in W contents of the micas matches the variability in Li, F, Rb, and Cs contents, indicating that both the magmatic and hydrothermal evolutions were closely associated with W mineralization in the Dahutang deposit. The chemical zoning of muscovite and Li-micas not only traces the processes of W enrichment by magmatic differentiation and volatiles but also traces the leaching of W by the fluids. Therefore, micas are indicators not only for the magmatic–hydrothermal evolution of granite, but also for tungsten mineralization.〈/span〉

    Description: 〈p〉Here we report a solution-processing strategy to stabilize the perovskite-based heterostructure. Strong Pb–Cl and Pb–O bonds formed between a [CH(NH〈sub〉2〈/sub〉)〈sub〉2〈/sub〉]〈i〉〈sub〉x〈/sub〉〈/i〉[CH〈sub〉3〈/sub〉NH〈sub〉3〈/sub〉]〈sub〉1–〈/sub〉〈i〉〈sub〉x〈/sub〉〈/i〉Pb〈sub〉1+〈/sub〉〈i〉〈sub〉y〈/sub〉〈/i〉I〈sub〉3〈/sub〉 film with a Pb-rich surface and a chlorinated graphene oxide layer. The constructed heterostructure can selectively extract photogenerated charge carriers and impede the loss of decomposed components from soft perovskites, thereby reducing damage to the organic charge-transporting semiconductors. Perovskite solar cells with an aperture area of 1.02 square centimeters maintained 90% of their initial efficiency of 21% after operation at the maximum power point under AM1.5G solar light (100 milliwatts per square centimeter) at 60°C for 1000 hours. The stabilized output efficiency of the aged device was further certified by an accredited test center.〈/p〉

    Description: 〈p〉Pathological cardiac hypertrophy eventually leads to heart failure without adequate treatment. The immunoproteasome is an inducible form of the proteasome that is intimately involved in inflammatory diseases. Here, we found that the expression and activity of immunoproteasome catalytic subunit β5i were significantly up-regulated in angiotensin II (Ang II)–treated cardiomyocytes and in the hypertrophic hearts. Knockout of β5i in cardiomyocytes and mice markedly attenuated the hypertrophic response, and this effect was aggravated by β5i overexpression in cardiomyocytes and transgenic mice. Mechanistically, β5i interacted with and promoted ATG5 degradation thereby leading to inhibition of autophagy and cardiac hypertrophy. Further, knockdown of ATG5 or inhibition of autophagy reversed the β5i knockout-mediated reduction of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy induced by Ang II or pressure overload. Together, this study identifies a novel role for β5i in the regulation of cardiac hypertrophy. The inhibition of β5i activity may provide a new therapeutic approach for hypertrophic diseases.〈/p〉

    Description: 〈p〉Various concepts related to parity-time symmetry, including anti–parity-time symmetry, have found broad applications in wave physics. Wave systems are fundamentally described by Hermitian operators, whereas their unusual properties are introduced by incorporation of gain and loss. We propose that the related physics need not be restricted to wave dynamics, and we consider systems described by diffusive dynamics. We study the heat transfer in two countermoving media and show that this system exhibits anti–parity-time symmetry. The spontaneous symmetry breaking results in a phase transition from motionless temperature profiles, despite the mechanical motion of the background, to moving temperature profiles. Our results extend the concepts of parity-time symmetry beyond wave physics and may offer opportunities to manipulate heat and mass transport.〈/p〉
