    Notes: Nitration of 1-methylpyrene yields a mixture of isomers which have been difficult to resolve by chromatography. By using the addition of substituent effects, the products have been identified by 1H NMR as 3-, 6-and 8-nitro derivatives of 1-methylpyrene in the proportions 0.65:1:1.

    Notes: Raman scattering is treated using the displaced harmonic oscillator model. The time-dependent approach to the Raman scattering tensor was adopted and the exact propagation of gaussians on harmonic surfaces was exploited. An insight into the effect of the damping constant on the Raman excitation profiles was thus obtained. It is shown that the dynamics of the wavepacket propagation on the excited state surface governs the difference between continuum resonance Raman scattering and discrete resonance Raman scattering.
