    Description: Raw multibeam bathymetry data were collected aboard RV Meteor during cruise M183 using a Kongsberg EM122 multibeam echosounder. The expedition took place during 13.07.2022 and 09.08.2022 from Ponta Delgada (Portugal) – St. John's (Canada) in the Central and Northern Atlantic Ocean. Data were recorded outside EEZs. Sound velocity profiles (SVP) were applied on the data for calibration. Please see environmental data and the cruise report for details. The data are unprocessed and can therefore contain incorrect depth measurements (artifacts) if not further processed. Note that refraction errors may occur when no proper SVP is applied. The main aim of M183 is to locate promising areas for future MeBo drilling and ridge flank observatory science. Acquisition and provision of the data are part of the DAM Underway Project and published according to the FAIR principles..

    Description: Informationelle Selbstbestimmung gehört zu den zentralen Leitbildern in der Informationsgesellschaft. Das vom Bundesverfassungsgericht entwickelte »Entscheidungsrecht über die Preisgabe und Verwendung persönlicher Daten« hat großen Einfluss auf die gesamte Rechtsordnung. Seine Defizite werden aber immer deutlicher. Die Arbeit zeigt die Charakteristika von Informationen, die Rolle der Medien, Techniken und Netze sowie die neuartigen Anforderungen an die Grundrechtsdogmatik auf. Im Anschluss daran erarbeitet sie ein gegenstandsgerechtes grundrechtliches Schutzkonzept. Informationelle Selbstbestimmung wird im Rahmen einer Zwei-Ebenen-Konzeption in ein Bündel inhaltlich vielfältiger Bindungen und Rechtspositionen transformiert. Dadurch entsteht eine angemessene Basis für die Modernisierung und für die sachgerechte Integration des Informations- und Datenschutzrechts. Die Arbeit vermittelt allen, die sich in Universitäten, Ministerien, Verwaltung, Unternehmen oder als Datenschutzbeauftragte mit Grundrechten und mit Informationsrecht beschäftigen, solide Grundlagen und neue Anregungen. Die Autorin war wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am BVerfG und arbeitet jetzt als Universitätsdozentin.

    Description: The tendency to overestimate immediate utility is a common cognitive bias. As a result people behave inconsistently over time and fail to reach long-term goals. Behavioral economics tries to help affected individuals by implementing external incentives. However, designing robust incentives is often difficult due to imperfect knowledge of the parameter β ∈ (0, 1] quantifying a person’s present bias. Using the graphical model of Kleinberg and Oren [8], we approach this problem from an algorithmic perspective. Based on the assumption that the only information about β is its membership in some set B ⊂ (0, 1], we distinguish between two models of uncertainty: one in which β is fixed and one in which it varies over time. As our main result we show that the conceptual loss of effi- ciency incurred by incentives in the form of penalty fees is at most 2 in the former and 1 + max B/ min B in the latter model. We also give asymptotically matching lower bounds and approximation algorithms.

    Description: Presque tous les romans de Claude Simon évoquent la photographie : qu’il s’agisse d’un personnage photographe dans Le Vent (1957), de clichés jaunis (L’Herbe, 1958), d’instantanés immobiles (Le Palace, 1962), de cartes postales ou d’une photographie énigmatique d’Histoire (1967), sans oublier les archives photographiques maternelles de L’Acacia... Mais chez Simon cette présence des images nourrit d’abord une réflexion sur la langue, participe à son invention formelle. Sa pratique de la « description dynamique » s’élabore dans un lien étroit à la visualité traumatique, désintégratrice de la photographie, suscitant une véritable esthétique du choc. En dialogue avec les principales théories de la photographie (Kracauer, Benjamin et Barthes) comme avec l’intertexte littéraire de Simon (Proust, notamment), Moments photographiques fait apparaître la photographie comme une figure conceptuelle majeure des nouvelles poétiques de la mémoire. Et livre, ce faisant, à travers sa lecture de l’œuvre simonienne, une contribution décisive à toute Histoire littéraire de la photographie.
