Abstract: This book highlights the likely impacts of climate change in terms of global and national water securities, how different countries are attempting to address these complex problems and to what extent they are likely to succeed. A major global concern at present, especially after the social and economic havoc that has been caused by COVID-19 in only one year, is how we can return to earlier levels of economic development patterns and then further improve the process so that sustainable development goals are reached to the extent possible by 2030, in both developed and developing countries. Mankind is now facing two existential problems over the next several decades. These are climate change and whether the world will have access to enough water to meet all its food, energy, environment and health needs. Much of expected climate change impacts can be seen through the lens of extreme hydrological events, like droughts, floods and other extreme hydrometeorological events. Abstract: This compilation has been designed to provide a comprehensive source of theoretical and practical update for scientists working in the broad field of soil science. The book explores all possible mechanisms and means to improve nutrient use efficiencies involving developing and testing of nanofertilizers, developing consortia based microbial formulations for mobilization of soil nutrients, and engineering of nutrient efficient crops using molecular biology and biotechnological tools. This is an all-inclusive collection of information about soil science. This book is of interest to teachers, researchers, soil scientists, capacity builders and policymakers. Also the book serves as additional reading material for undergraduate and graduate students of soil science, quantitative ecology, earth sciences, GIS and geodetic sciences, as well as geologists, geomorphologists, hydrologists and landscape ecology. National and international agriculture and soil scientists, policy makers will also find this to be a useful read.

Description / Table of Contents: Introduction -- Sukoon Water -- Piramal Sarvajal -- 1001fontaines -- Chamkarleu Water Supply -- Discussion and recommendations.
Abstract: This book highlights unique and deeper insights into the operations of off-grid water supply business models and the policy implications that they raise. The two key research questions of the report are as follows: 1) What is the efficacy and sustainability of the off-grid model of safe water availability and/or delivery to consumers who don’t have piped water supply? 2) What are the key policy considerations for planning a successful off-grid model of safe water delivery? Through the Four-Domain Framework, this book does the gap analysis of the physical, operational, financial, and institutional domains of the few off-grid water operators in cross-country case studies. It also includes a detailed financial analysis of the capital costs as well as operations and maintenance costs of the different off-grid water supply models compared to some of the piped water supply models. The final discusses the need to acknowledge off-grid water solutions in urban water policies, especially for the economically weaker sections. The universal coverage of all by the piped water is an ultimate goal of any water policy; however, in the interim, there is a need to put more emphasis on off-grid water solutions.

Description / Table of Contents: Preface -- About the Authors -- Chapter 1 Agricultural Meteorology: A Preview -- Chapter 2 Atmospheric Temperature -- Chapter 3 Atmospheric Pressure and Solar Radiation -- Chapter 4 Atmospheric Humidity -- Chapter 5 Microclimate and Climatic Normals -- Chapter 6 Weather Disasters and Management, Air Pollution and Role of Meteorology -- Chapter 7 Weather Forecasting -- Chapter 8 Climate Change Impact on Plants -- Chapter 9 Climate Change Effect on Fruit Production -- Chapter 10 Climate change Effect on Forests.
Abstract: The monograph focuses on agricultural meteorology and climate change and its impacts on different crops. Comprising of chapters from experts, the book discusses and provides first-hand information to the long term shifts in weather patterns and temperature impacting soil, water and crops. Each chapter focuses in detail on the impact of plant- water – soil nexus and climate change on agriculture and food security. Covering the basic concepts about the temperature, pressure and humidity correlation with the increased demands of food, the book explores in detail the impact of adverse climatic conditions like drought, floods, increasing levels of carbon dioxide emissions and other simultaneous effects like soil fertility depletion on the cropping systems and overall crop productivity. The book touches the challenges of climate change, adaptive methods, mitigation strategies, with careful explanation of governance, plans and policies required to provide guidelines to stake holders so they can best prepare for the negative climate change impacts. While touching the agricultural challenges faced globally due to climate change, the book serves as a reference book for students, researchers and policy makers, involved in horticulture, agriculture and environmental sciences and climate change.

Notes: The rate of n-butyl vinyl ether polymerization by chromyl chloride is first order in [catalyst] and second order in [monomer]. Added H2O (after a certain concentration) and HCl increase the rate, thiophene retards the rate, while pyridine inhibits the rate. DP is independent of [chromyl chloride] and increases with increasing [monomer] up to 1M, thereafter becoming independent of it. Both rate and DP increase over the range 10-32°C and decrease at higher temperatures.

Notes: A new polymeric azodye has been synthesized from carbazole by diazotization of its derivative N-methylcarbazole-3,6-diamine and subsequent coupling reaction with 2,2-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl-3-sulfonate-Na)-propane prepared from bisphenol-A. Its physico-chemical, electrical, and thermal properties have been characterized; finally, its application to the preparation of colored semiconductive films from polyvinyl alcohol has been studied.
