    Notes: The electronic properties of a one-dimensional diatomic crystal have been analyzed by using the MO-LCAO method in the tight binding approximation, with mathematical techniques involved in setting up and solving difference equations. The approach gives the exact sets of analytic solutions for both localized and nonlocalized states. The theory of surface states is developed as a characteristic value problem. To illustrate the method the surface states for a semiinfinite crystal which contains a local imperfection at the surface were examined. It appears that this method has advantages over previous methods developed to solve surface problems in crystalline lattices.

    Description / Table of Contents: We have studied the temperature dependence of NMR spectra of six spirophosphoranes of the general formula: Experimental data show intramolecular isomerism which was explained by pseudo-rotation mechanism (Berry, Lit. 1).In all cases except one we also observed tautomerism between spirophosphorane and phosphite forms.
    Notes: Nous avons étudié la variation, en fonction de la température, des spectres de RMN de six spirophosphoranes des types: Les résultats expérimentaux indiquent l'existence d'une isomérie intramoléculaire que nous avons interprétée en adoptant le mécanisme de pseudo-rotation proposé par Berry.1Dans tous les cas, sauf un, le déplacement de l'équilibre tautomère spirophosphorane ⇌ phosphite s'ajoute an phénomène d'isomérie observé.

    Description / Table of Contents: The NMR spectra of eight spirophosphoranes bearing a P—H bond have been recorded in the presence of europium NMR shift reagent. The spectra are simplified by addition of the europium chelate. The observed displacements in the proton NMR lines allow the assignment of the endo and exo signals in some cases. By addition of the NMR shift reagent, one observes a displacement in the phosphite-spirophosphorane equilibrium in some cases.
    Notes: Le spectre de Résonance Magnétique Nucléaire de huit spirophosphoranes à liaison P—H a été enregistré en présence de chélate d'europium. L'addition du complexe d'europium amène la levée partielle ou totale de dégénérescence des spectres. Les modifications observées dans les déplacements chimiques permettent de proposer une attribution de position endo ou exo de certains signaux. L'addition du complexe d'europium entraîne, dans certains cas, une modification de l'équilibre entre les formes phosphites et spirophosphoranes.
