Abstract Wool carpet samples, untreated and treated with commercial levels of permethrin, were placed on a mite-inhabited carpet in a Melbourne house for 14 months. The levels of live house dust mites in the samples were found to be high at the end of this period and to exhibit no differences according to the presence of permethrin in the carpets.
