    Beschreibung / Inhaltsverzeichnis: Zusammenfassung Wir beschreiben die Implementierung eines Schnittebenenverfahrens zur Bestimmung minimaler gewichteter perfekter 2-Matchings. Der Algorithmus baut auf der vollständigen Beschreibung des perfekten 2-Matching-Polytops, die Edmonds angegeben hat, auf und verwendet die Simplexmethode zur Lösung der im Verfahren auftretenden LP-Relaxierungen. Schnittebenen werden entweder mit schnellen Heuristiken bestimmt, oder, falls diese nicht erfolgreich sind, mit einer effizienten und auf 2-matching-Ungleichungen abgestimmten Implementierung des Padberg-Rao-Verfahrens. Mit diesem Algorithmus konnten 2-Matching-Probleme in vollständigen Graphen mit bis zu 1000 Knoten, d. h. mit bis zu 499.500 Variablen, in weniger als einer Stunde CPU-Zeit auf einem Rechner mittlerer Leistung gelöst werden.
    Notizen: Abstract We describe an implementation of a cutting plane algorithm for the minimum weight perfect 2-matching problem. This algorithm is based on Edmonds' complete description of the perfect 2-matching polytope and uses the simplex algorithm for solving the LP-relaxations coming up. Cutting planes are determined by fast heuristics, or, if these fail, by an efficient implementation of the Padberg-Rao procedure, specialized for 2-matching constraints. With this algorithm 2-matching problems on complete graphs with up to 1000 nodes (i.e., 499,500 variables) have been solved in less than 1 hour CPU time on a medium speed computer.

    Notizen: Abstract The aim of this paper is to describe the lattice of all varieties of lattice ordered groups which are solvable class two (that is,metabelian) as groups and which have the property that they contain no non-abeliano-groups. In doing so we obtain a fairly explicit description of the structure of any finitely generated subdirectly irreducible member of such a variety and show that each such member generates a variety determined by a single identity. This continues the work of [HR] and [HMR]. In [S], Scrimger discovered an infinite set of varieties which cover the abelian variety, each of which is metabelian and contains only abeliano-groups. In [HR] the sub-directly irreducible members of the Scrimger varieties were characterized and from that a basis of identities was obtained. In [HMR] and independently in [G], those results were extended to obtain a description of the subvarieties of the varietyℒ p of metabelianl-groups satisfying the identityx p y p =ypxp (p a prime).

    Notizen: Abstract New heat capacity measurements and cell volume data are presented for a very magnesian glaucophane from a Tauern Window eclogite. These data are combined with estimated entropy, thermal expansion, and compressibility data to generate an enthalpy of formation for glaucophane from experimentally determined phase equilibria. The data are supported by preliminary experiments of the author and provide consistent calculations on the pressure of formation of the Tauern eclogites and on the position of the blueschist-greenschist transformation reaction as studied experimentally by Maruyama et al. (1986). The resulting thermodynamic data for glaucophane may be combined with the dataset of Holland and Powell (1985) to calculate phase relations for blueschists and eclogites. The stability of magnesian glaucophane lies in the pressure range between 8 and 32 kbars at 400° C and between 13 and 33 kbars at 600° C, and the unusual eclogite assemblage of glaucophane+kyanite from the Tauern Window is restricted to pressures above 20 kbars at high water activity.

    Notizen: Abstract The origin of sector trilling in cordierite is due to the hexagonal-orthorhombic Al, Si ordering transformation which under non-equilibrium conditions proceeds via a short-range ordered modulated structure. The growth of these distortion waves associated with progressive ordering produces a strain field which is minimized by a cyclic distribution of symmetrically equivalent modulations. Sector and complexly trilled cordierites in metamorphic rocks grew as the hexagonal polymorph with a considerable degree of Al, Si disorder. The enthalpy and entropy of disorder are evaluated from recent experimental work. The implication is that, in metamorphic rocks, substantial overstepping of stable equilibrium phase boundaries is required to nucleate hexagonal cordierite. Moreover, its composition coexisting with other phases will also be significantly different from that of the stable ordered form.

    Notizen: Abstract Ammonia-nitrogen feedstock streams, free of oxygen containing impurities, are essential reagents for fabricating low oxygen contaminated nitride films. An analytical method is described for determining part per billion levels of oxygen containing impurities, which are converted to nitric oxide (NO) through reaction with microwave discharge produced active nitrogen. Quantitative determinations are then based on detecting the resulting chemiluminescence of NO at characteristic wavelengths. This metastable transfer spectrometric method (MTES) provides direct measurements of oxygen impurities over the 14 to 500 ppb region and has dynamic range extending to 200 ppm. The method, unparalleled in its measurement sensitivity for oxygen impurities in flowing nitrogen gas streams, is calibrated with an NBS standard and applied to the determination of the purification efficiency of an on-line resin system for removal of O2, CO and NO from ammonia-nitrogen mixtures. Gaseous streams, doped deliberately in the 0.2 to 100 ppm level with either O2, CO or NO following purification were found to contain less than 10 ppb of the residual impurity. A commercially available 1% ammonia in nitrogen semiconductor grade reagent (99.999%) is shown by MTES to be contaminated with 470 ppb of oxygen impurities.
