    Beschreibung: The intensity of Galactic cosmic rays is nearly isotropic because of the influence of magnetic fields in the Milky Way. Here, we present two-dimensional high-precision anisotropy measurement for energies from a few to several hundred teraelectronvolts (TeV), using the large data sample of the Tibet Air Shower Arrays. Besides revealing finer details of the known anisotropies, a new component of Galactic cosmic ray anisotropy in sidereal time is uncovered around the Cygnus region direction. For cosmic-ray energies up to a few hundred TeV, all components of anisotropies fade away, showing a corotation of Galactic cosmic rays with the local Galactic magnetic environment. These results have broad implications for a comprehensive understanding of cosmic rays, supernovae, magnetic fields, and heliospheric and Galactic dynamic environments.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Amenomori, M -- Ayabe, S -- Bi, X J -- Chen, D -- Cui, S W -- Danzengluobu -- Ding, L K -- Ding, X H -- Feng, C F -- Feng, Zhaoyang -- Feng, Z Y -- Gao, X Y -- Geng, Q X -- Guo, H W -- He, H H -- He, M -- Hibino, K -- Hotta, N -- Hu, Haibing -- Hu, H B -- Huang, J -- Huang, Q -- Jia, H Y -- Kajino, F -- Kasahara, K -- Katayose, Y -- Kato, C -- Kawata, K -- Labaciren -- Le, G M -- Li, A F -- Li, J Y -- Lou, Y-Q -- Lu, H -- Lu, S L -- Meng, X R -- Mizutani, K -- Mu, J -- Munakata, K -- Nagai, A -- Nanjo, H -- Nishizawa, M -- Ohnishi, M -- Ohta, I -- Onuma, H -- Ouchi, T -- Ozawa, S -- Ren, J R -- Saito, T -- Saito, T Y -- Sakata, M -- Sako, T K -- Sasaki, T -- Shibata, M -- Shiomi, A -- Shirai, T -- Sugimoto, H -- Takita, M -- Tan, Y H -- Tateyama, N -- Torii, S -- Tsuchiya, H -- Udo, S -- Wang, B -- Wang, H -- Wang, X -- Wang, Y G -- Wu, H R -- Xue, L -- Yamamoto, Y -- Yan, C T -- Yang, X C -- Yasue, S -- Ye, Z H -- Yu, G C -- Yuan, A F -- Yuda, T -- Zhang, H M -- Zhang, J L -- Zhang, N J -- Zhang, X Y -- Zhang, Y -- Zhang, Yi -- Zhaxisangzhu -- Zhou, X X -- Tibet ASgamma Collaboration -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 2006 Oct 20;314(5798):439-43.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Author address: 〈/span〉Department of Physics, Hirosaki University, Hirosaki 036-8561, Japan.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Record origin:〈/span〉 〈a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17053141" target="_blank"〉PubMed〈/a〉

Beschreibung: Core-collapse supernovae (CC-SNe) are the explosions that announce the death of massive stars. Some CC-SNe are linked to long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) and are highly aspherical. One important question is to what extent asphericity is common to all CC-SNe. Here we present late-time spectra for a number of CC-SNe from stripped-envelope stars and use them to explore any asphericity generated in the inner part of the exploding star, near the site of collapse. A range of oxygen emission-line profiles is observed, including a high incidence of double-peaked profiles, a distinct signature of an aspherical explosion. Our results suggest that all CC-SNe from stripped-envelope stars are aspherical explosions and that SNe accompanied by GRBs exhibit the highest degree of asphericity.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Maeda, Keiichi -- Kawabata, Koji -- Mazzali, Paolo A -- Tanaka, Masaomi -- Valenti, Stefano -- Nomoto, Ken'ichi -- Hattori, Takashi -- Deng, Jinsong -- Pian, Elena -- Taubenberger, Stefan -- Iye, Masanori -- Matheson, Thomas -- Filippenko, Alexei V -- Aoki, Kentaro -- Kosugi, George -- Ohyama, Youichi -- Sasaki, Toshiyuki -- Takata, Tadafumi -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 2008 Feb 29;319(5867):1220-3. doi: 10.1126/science.1149437. Beschreibung: Loss of seed shattering was a key event in the domestication of major cereals. We revealed that the qSH1 gene, a major quantitative trait locus of seed shattering in rice, encodes a BEL1-type homeobox gene and demonstrated that a single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the 5' regulatory region of the qSH1 gene caused loss of seed shattering owing to the absence of abscission layer formation. Haplotype analysis and association analysis in various rice collections revealed that the SNP was highly associated with shattering among japonica subspecies of rice, implying that it was a target of artificial selection during rice domestication.〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Konishi, Saeko -- Izawa, Takeshi -- Lin, Shao Yang -- Ebana, Kaworu -- Fukuta, Yoshimichi -- Sasaki, Takuji -- Yano, Masahiro -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 2006 Jun 2;312(5778):1392-6. Beschreibung: During chemotaxis, activation of the small guanosine triphosphatase Rac is spatially regulated to organize the extension of membrane protrusions in the direction of migration. In neutrophils, Rac activation is primarily mediated by DOCK2, an atypical guanine nucleotide exchange factor. Upon stimulation, we found that DOCK2 rapidly translocated to the plasma membrane in a phosphatidylinositol 3,4,5-trisphosphate-dependent manner. However, subsequent accumulation of DOCK2 at the leading edge required phospholipase D-mediated synthesis of phosphatidic acid, which stabilized DOCK2 there by means of interaction with a polybasic amino acid cluster, resulting in increased local actin polymerization. When this interaction was blocked, neutrophils failed to form leading edges properly and exhibited defects in chemotaxis. Thus, intracellular DOCK2 dynamics are sequentially regulated by distinct phospholipids to localize Rac activation during neutrophil chemotaxis.〈br /〉〈br /〉〈a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3761877/" target="_blank"〉〈img src="https://static.pubmed.gov/portal/portal3rc.fcgi/4089621/img/3977009" border="0"〉〈/a〉   〈a href="https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3761877/" target="_blank"〉This paper as free author manuscript - peer-reviewed and accepted for publication〈/a〉〈br /〉〈br /〉〈span class="detail_caption"〉Notes: 〈/span〉Nishikimi, Akihiko -- Fukuhara, Hideo -- Su, Wenjuan -- Hongu, Tsunaki -- Takasuga, Shunsuke -- Mihara, Hisashi -- Cao, Qinhong -- Sanematsu, Fumiyuki -- Kanai, Motomu -- Hasegawa, Hiroshi -- Tanaka, Yoshihiko -- Shibasaki, Masakatsu -- Kanaho, Yasunori -- Sasaki, Takehiko -- Frohman, Michael A -- Fukui, Yoshinori -- R01 GM084251/GM/NIGMS NIH HHS/ -- R01GM71520/GM/NIGMS NIH HHS/ -- New York, N.Y. -- Science. 2009 Apr 17;324(5925):384-7. doi: 10.1126/science.1170179. Notizen: Epitaxial growth of C60 is observed for vacuum-deposited crystals on the KI(001) cleavage surface. When the KI surface is kept at 240 °C and the deposition rate is controlled to be less than a monolayer min−1 (∼0.5 nm min−1), rectangular platelike crystals of C60 grow epitaxially. Transmission electron micrographs and electron diffraction patterns of the crystals exhibit that the (002) planes of the face-centered cubic C60 crystal orient in parallel to the KI(001) surface. This epitaxial orientation is explained in terms of thec(2×2) commensurate lattice matching.

Notizen: A green light source of 11 mW (maximum) has been obtained by frequency doubling in 3 at. % Nd:YVO4 lasers pumped by a single longitudinal mode laser diode (LD), for a 50 mW incident pumping power, with grating feedback optics. When the temperature of the LD was changed within the range of 23±10 °C, the oscillated wavelength of the LD remained unchanged, and the relative intensity noise of the green light was maintained to less than −140 dB/Hz (at 2.5 MHz).

Notizen: InGaN single-crystal films were grown on (0001) plane sapphire substrates at 800 °C by metalorganic vapor phase epitaxy. By using such a high temperature for growth, the crystalline quality has been greatly improved. But a high nitrogen over pressure and high indium source flow rate were necessary to achieve significant indium incorporation during growth. For the first time, photoluminescence has been observed in InGaN, and near-band edge emission is seen in the photoluminescence at 77 K. From this photoluminescence, the dependence of a near-band edge emission on the indium mole fraction of InGaN has been investigated.

Notizen: To study performance and reproducibility of photodiodes (PDs) on Si in the long-wavelength region, InAlAs/InGaAs metal-semiconductor-metal PDs were fabricated on high-quality heteroepitaxial InP layers on Si substrates. A dark current of 0.5–2×10−8 A and a responsivity of 0.05–0.15 A/W were reproducibly obtained, at least at one of the ±5 V bias voltages. These dark currents and responsivity are similar to those of PDs with the same structure fabricated on InP substrates. The PDs on Si have pulse responses with full widths at half-maximum of 150–600 ps.
