    Beschreibung: This dataset contains abundance data of Serpulid Polychaetes on four stations around Giglio Island (Tyrrhenian Sea, Italy). All data was generated between May and July 2019 by SCUBA diving. We aimed to assess the diversity and abundance of sessile organisms within the P. crispa mats in comparison to well-investigated P. oceanica meadows.

    Beschreibung: Raw data acquired by position sensors on board RV SONNE during expedition SO279 were processed to receive a validated master track which can be used as reference of further expedition data. During SO279 the motion reference unit Kongsberg SeaTex AS MRU-5 combined with Kongsberg SeaTex AS Seapath 320 and two GPS receivers SAAB MGL-4 were used as navigation sensors. Data were downloaded from DAVIS SHIP data base (https://dship.bsh.de) with a resolution of 1 sec. Processing and evaluation of the data is outlined in the data processing report. Processed data are provided as a master track with 1 sec resolution derived from the position sensors' data selected by priority and a generalized track with a reduced set of the most significant positions of the master track.

    Beschreibung: Underway temperature and salinity data was collected along the cruise track with two autonomous measurement systems, called self-cleaning monitoring boxes (SMBs). Usually, the SMBs are changed after 12 hours. While temperature is taken at the water inlet in about 3 m depth, salinity is estimated within the SMB from conductivity and interior temperature. No calibration was performed, neither for temperature nor for salinity. For details to all processing steps see Data Processing Report.

    Beschreibung: The redox-sensitive metals Mn, Fe, U, Re, Mo, and V and sulfur cycling were studied within the subterranean estuary of a sand beach on Spiekeroog Island, Northern Germany. Pore water samples were obtained along a cross-shore transect down to 5 m below the sediment surface. Redox conditions range from oxic, close to the base of the dune, to sub- to anoxic towards the low water line. We could show that biogeochemical processes alter not only the pore water concentrations of the trace metals, but are also reflected by the O isotope- and to a minor degree the S isotope composition of dissolved sulfate. Seawater circulation through sediments of the upper beach (duneward part of the intertidal zone) removes U and V from solution, but serves as a source for Mn, Fe, Re, and Mo to the ocean. Pore water discharging from a berm close to the low water line exhibits lower U, V, and Re concentrations than adjacent seawater. This part of the beach thus serves as a sink for U, V, and Re, but as a source for Mn, Fe, and Mo. No significant Mo depletion is found in the pore water, due to the lack of dissolved sulfide.
