Notes: Abstract In this article, we outline a RAM test methodology taking into accountI DDQ and voltage based March tests. RAM test cost forms a significantly large portion of its total production cost and is projected to increase even further for future RAM generations.I DDQ testing can be utilized to reduce this cost. However, owing to architectural and operational constrains of RAMs, a straight forward application ofI DDQ testing has very limited defect detection capability. These constrains are removed by creating anI DDQ test mode in RAMs. All bridging defects in RAM matrix, including the gate oxide defects, are detected by fourI DDQ measurements. TheI DDQ test is then supplemented with voltage based March test to detect the defects (opens, data retention) that are not detectable usingI DDQ technique. The combined test methodology reduces the algorithmic test complexity for a given SRAM fault model from 16n to 5n+4I DDQ measurements.

Notes: Abstract Owing to the non-binary nature of their operation, analog circuits are influenced by process defects in a different manner compared to digital circuits. This calls for a careful investigation into the occurrence of defects in analog circuits, their modeling related aspects and their detection strategies. In this article, we demonstrate with the help of a real CMOS circuit that simple test stimuli, like DC, transient and AC, can detect most of the modeled process defects. Silicon devices tested with the proposed test methodology demonstrate the effectiveness of the method. Subsequently, the proposed test method is implemented in production test environment along with the conventional test for a comparative study. This test methodology is structured and simpler, therefore results in substantial test cost reduction.

Notes: Abstract The Mauritius Radiotelescope (MRT) is a T-shaped array of helical antennas with a 2048 m EW arm and a 890 m South arm. The primary objective of the telescope is to produce a sky survey in the declination zone -15° to -65° with a point source sensitivity of ≈200 mJy and an angular resolution of 4'×4.6'cosec(z) at 151.6 MHz, z being the zenith angle . This paper describes the telescope and the present status

Notes: The diboration of the diazene PhN = NSiMe3 (15) by diborane(4) derivatives provides a new synthetic route to N,N'-diborylated hydrazines. The product formed depends on the type of the diborane(4) compound. Thus, addition of dimesityldiboron dichloride to 15 in a 1:1 ratio afforded (mesCIB)PhN-N(SiMe3)(BClmes) (16) while bis(dimethyl-amino)diboron dichloride was found to react in a 1:2 ratio to give a triazadiborolidine derivative 17. In addition, it was demonstrated that in the solid state Me2N-N(BPh2)2 (8) is a derivative of a three-membered dihydroazadiboriridine C while its isomer, (Ph2B)MeN-NMe(BPh2) (7), forms no BN coordinative bond. The new 3,6-difluoro-1,2,4,5-tetraza-3,6-diborine 13 shows a twist conformation. The molecular structures of all these compounds were determined by X-ray crystal structure analysis, and the influence of the B substituent on the conformation is discussed.

Notes: Deprotonation of NH protons, of four diorgano-, organo(trimethylsilyl)- and bis(trimethylsilyl)hydrazines by n-butyllithium in hexane led to the following lithium hydrazides: [Et-(Li)N-N(H)Et]6, (1)6, [Me3Si(Li)N-N(Li)SiMe3]4, (2)4, [Me3Si-(Li)N-N(Li)SiMe3 · (Me3Si)2N-N(Li)SiMe3]2 (3)2, and [Ph-(Li)N-N(Li)SiMe3]4, (4)4, respectively. The structure determination by X-ray methods at low temperature reveals butterfly-shaped Li2N2 structural monomeric units which associate through “laddering” to the observed oligomers thereby generating penta- and hexacoordinated Li centers. N-N bonds lengths of up to 1.556 Å suggest that negative charge accumulates at the nitrogen atoms of (1)6, (2)4, and (3)2. An amazing structure shows the red compound 4 where two Li ions are π-sandwiched between two phenyl groups each. The compound can be looked at as a new type of a lithium lithiate complex, Li2[Li6N8Ph4(SiMe3)4], but short N-C and N-N bonds in the Li6N8 core indicate that its negative charge is transferred to the phenyl groups.

Description: Catastrophic events such as the Bhopal, India tragedy and rising incidences of cancer in areas neighboring industrial facilities have heightened concern over the use of toxic chemicals in manufacturing and industry, particularly with respect to long-term exposure. While legislation and publicity have reduced the use of some chemicals, risks remain that continue to threaten the health of individuals worldwide. Based on the authors’ research conducted through their development of a program in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Toxic Chemicals: Risk Prevention Through Use Reduction examines various toxicity factors and proposes a plan to reduce the toxic impact of these hazardous substances. Explores all factors that contribute to toxicity The book begins by exploring the history of toxic chemical release reporting programs, a trend growing out of the Bhopal tragedy. It surveys their impact both in the United States through the Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) program and in the 29 other countries that maintain similar programs. Then, with the goal of developing a rational method of prioritizing toxic chemicals for reduction, the authors discuss mobility, persistence, and bioconcentration adjustment factors and present a method for integrating all of these factors to estimate the relative impact of chemical release. Compares alternate emphases in existing programs The book describes programs that concentrate on reducing the release of chemicals with the greatest adverse toxic impact and those that require companies to prepare pollution prevention plans and set goals for reducing use or release. It also examines technical assistance programs that help companies search for alternative chemicals to use or process changes that eliminate the use of toxic chemicals. In addition, it explores alternative market-based approaches for achieving environmental protection. Presents a workable plan for the future In the final chapters, the authors lay out their proposed program for reducing the use of toxic chemicals. This plan builds on the existing TRI program and uses lessons learned from this and other programs. The combined research assembled by the authors and their multifaceted approach to the issue of chemical toxicity enables companies and policy makers to move to the next level of toxic chemical use reduction, resulting in a safer environment for future generations.
