Notes:
Pyridinium N-Phenoxide Betaines and Their Application for the Characterization of Solvent Polarities, XV. - Are Solvatochromic Vinylogous γ-Pyridone Betaine Dyes Better Empirical Indicators of the Solvent Polarity? The new negatively solvatochromic betaine dyes 11 and 12 are synthesized. Their solvatochromism is weaker compared with that of the standard betaine dye 1, used to introduce the ET(30) scale of solvent polarity.
